It'd be grouse in the Olympic year if a Brit (well, we'll call him that for these purposes ) took out Wimblenod.

Re: Wimblenod
Saw a quiz question yesterday which surprised me, in terms of how long it's been since a home winner in all the men's Grand Slams. Last one was Roddick winning the US in 2003, obviously Sampras won a fair few, but the French you have to go back to the 80s for a home winner and the Aussie, even more surprisingly I think was the 60s or 70s?
Anyway, our last women's champion was in Silver Jubilee year...

Well, after looking like a potential double-bagel early on, that somehow turned into a contest for a while. Serena is first over 30 winner since Navratilova, will Federer make it a double for the "oldies"?
Still, shows again it's a pretty poor era for women's tennis, a decade ago when the Williams sisters were at their peak they had Henin, Clijsters, Davenport, Mauresmo, Hingis etc. to challenge them, then Sharapova came along a bit later. Now it's just a procession of majorless false world number ones and one-Slam wonders.

Well i'll be cheering for our Brit Murray. Until he becomes a sulking, swearing, drama queen Scot, at least.

Well yeah. I'm a Brit, we're all Brits. We're basically interchangeable.
Re: Wimblenod
I just hope they don't have plenty of close ups of Alex Salmond cheering him on in the crowd.

Well I shall be be cheering for Fed. If a Scot ends the wait for a British winner then it is massively tainted.
Come on Fed.
Come on Fed.

Wasn't aware I implied Russian; perhaps Eastern European might be more on the mark.
