Re: Wimblenod
Murray didn't disgrace himself. The tennis Federer has played in the semi final and now final is up there with his finest work,

PearlJ? I'm still waiting for his thoughts on the 2009 Ashes. For some reason that I just can't fathom, he disappeared after the Oval test.

He did reappear later though. At least he had the balls to admit he was a glory hunter.

Ah yes. He re-appeared in the middle of Australia's walloping of India a few months back, didn't he. All "good to see aggression.." this and "we seem to be back on track.." that.
Ridiculed away again, was he?

Well done Fed, with Nadal and Djokovic out of the way it was a big chance for Murray but he still couldn't seize it. Good to see some vintage Fed. Listened on the radio as the biased crowd was annoying to watch.

Re: Wimblenod
Well, I was rushed to hospital with what turned out to be a nasty fecker of a chest infection in the middle of the sodding final so didn't get to see what will possibly be Fed's last slam. Absolutely gutted.
Literally couldn't breath for about an hour and a half and I apparently arrived at the hospital with a temperature of 107 F. It's the only time I've ever called an ambulance for myself.
Anyway, I did think of PearlJ when the news filtered to me that Fed had won again. I think it was after the final in 2008 that he said Federer would never win another major. It gets funnier every time he manages it, although I think it could be over for him now. He annihilated Rafa in a match at the end of last year but he hasn't beaten him in a Slam for a long time and I can't see Rafa slipping up early again in the near future. He is lucky that his game has never been about being the quickest player on court so he could remain competitive well into his 30s, though I'd like him to bow out a bit earlier.

Jesus Vilks, hope you're OK now. That sounds like proper bad times. Bit bad that you're on your death bed thinking of PearlJ though!

Re: Wimblenod
Aye, the irony wasn't lost on me. Still can't breath what I would call "normally" but I'm not on death's door anymore. F*cking shattered though, didn't get a wink of sleep for either night, the first night I was in a state and the second night I was moved to a massive ward with loud people. One old lady was essentially mad and shouted "Help help help" every 5 minutes for about 4 hours and I swear the bloke opposite me talked in his sleep the ENTIRE night. Proper long and detailed conversations as well, I pretty much knew his life history by the morning.Brass Monkey wrote:Jesus Vilks, hope you're OK now. That sounds like proper bad times. Shitttt! That sounds f*cked up mate... hopefully you're continuing on the mending. Mental stuff. It's things like that which make you glad of normality!
Sorry, I'm still chuckling, but not in a bad way.

FWIW, It was the increasing number of cases actually found guilty that prompted my sardonic Santa Claus comment.
Allegations being one thing ... which might at that stage prove insubstantial in this or other case.

A week of strawberries and icecream, and a few display matches, none of which are likely to inspire.
Nadal to win again, and draw the women's winner out of a hat. Likely to be a screamer though.
This OP from a few years ago (2012) seems entirely appropriate again.
Perhaps it will be a bit more interesting this year, given that neither The Joker nor Vilkrang's Voodoo Doll won in Paris.
