Whincup fastest so far with a lightning quick 2m07.36s, followed by Will Davison on 2m07.82s then Lowndes with 2m07.98s. Whincup might give Murph's Lap of the Gods a shake.

Whincup tops qualifying from Coulthard and Winterbottom. Lowndes is in the mix and GT recovered to qualify 8th.

Lots of mentions of showers. Lowndes said he hoped his middle spot in the top 10 (5th) would see a patch of sunshine.

Re: Bathurst 1000 2012
Cromley took Froggie Alexandre Premat for his first run around Mt Panic-and-Drama on Wednesday and other than scaring the shit out of him, he was amazed at the extreme elevation change, steepness and massive high speed corners around the track. Grouse.

Why do they have the shootout so late in the day?. The final run will be in near darkness. It must be a disadvantage.
Re: Bathurst 1000 2012
Go Ford.
Davidson wins the shootout by a scrot from Whincup.

Aye, good shoot-out. I don't understand how the Vodaphone team can have Whincup's car set up within a bee's dick of pole, but Lowndes was all over the shop like a mad woman's breakfast.
And I agree with BD's comments. Far too late in the day for the shoot-out. Methinks it's more to do with TV than anything.

The Giz will go OK. He's always competitive, and if there is any moisture in the air, he will grow an extra cylinder.
