Re: Jimmy Savile
Have they stripped Savile of his Knighthood yet?

MBE, OBE AND CBE will also be going down the tubes.
Its like a shark feeding frenzy.

TBF, I don't think you can convict a person in the public eye on the grounds they look highly dodgy. Otherwise Tony Abbott, Margaret Thatcher, Vlad Putin and a million others would have been banged up long ago.
Bit of "right" wing bias there Petey ol' son!
A Freudian slip perchance?
How's about including in your list the likes of Gordon Brown (the eyes), Tony Blair (the lies), Frankie Hollande (the leathers). . .
and of course, the already accused - though luckily (for him) deceased - Cyril "fat boy-lover" Smith?

Re: Jimmy Savile
I recall noticing a few years ago, at the end of one of those "60-second interviews" that you see in newspapers, Rolf mentioning as his Greatest regret? that he had been painfully shy with girls when growing up, and unable to start a relationship. It struck me at the time as an unusual thing to identify, over the course of a life.
Perhaps it all makes sense now. (Cynics might say he more than made up for it later - not to say took repeated revenge for his own adolescent shyness on powerless women and even more powerless kids.) The human brain can be a dangerous place, when deep-seated problems aren't resolved.

Re: Jimmy Savile
Well, there IS something about swivelling staring eyes of mad monks and ladies whose eyes are slightly unaligned, who appear more than a little crazed on the platform ... and who, like any good psychopath, are definitely NOT for turning!
But I grant you, Blair had too many teeth from the start. And a (though less obvious than Maggie) slight misalignment of the eyes.
(I didn't mention Blair because I was talking specifically of obviously dodgy APPEARANCES - the whole point of my question to Lardy - but I did think of mentioning A Bliar too, on those non-appearance-based grounds you raised!
G Brown I wouldn't include, as much on the grounds that he has only one eye (and looks grumpy rather than scary) as on the basis I think he is essentially honest. A good manager and communicator, that's another matter. A bully towards his staff when under pressure, also a bit different.
If you want some (supposedly) leftie icons, then .. let's see ... Vlad Lenin, Derek Farking Hatton, Erich Honecker might fit that bill.
And how could I forget the original maniac, Ra-Ra Rasputin? Or for that matter Ghaddafi. And a number of other missionary tyrants. But many of those don't fit into any left/right divide, exactly. They were just mad manipulative f*ckers, serving their own goals and their own God (usually themselves in righteous disguise.)
As I said, this was not a sociological study, but three frinstances of dodgy-looking luminaries you wouldn't necessarily want to put away on appearance grounds alone.

Re: Jimmy Savile
What chance Rolf "the Octopus" tops himself? He's said to have declined into a very depressed state, and you can bet there'll be a line up as long as a queue for half price petrol of chickies attempting to claim financial compensation.
I'd hate to see it. Clearly this was a man that had got away with his actions for a long time, and felt he was "untouchable".

Alternatively we could return to the old days and ship him off abroad, somewhere far away... any suggestions?

I see the Brit Attorney General is investigating whether Rolf's 5 year 9 month sentence is unduly lenient. It probably is, but I doubt he'll come out of gaol alive.

They've already said he'll be segregated. Rock spiders don't fair to well amongst the general prison populus.

Isn't that all the more reason to leave the likes of him in there with the general hard cases? Let them finish him off quickly and hopefully as painfully as possible?skully wrote:They've already said he'll be segregated. Rock spiders don't fair to well amongst the general prison populus.
