Re: India v England, 3rd Test, Kolkata, 5-9 December, 2012
But the bowlers haven't been bowling filth, not even the one pressure relieving duff ball an over. They have been tight and thus required the Indian bats to take it too them; which has to be the way to bowl on a pitch like this.SG wrote:Either one of them. Both have gone too much into their shells. Eng's bowling hasn't been as threatening as its been made out to be by these 2 and Pujara earlier.

Just got bac, see that teh Monty has a wicket.
How has he been bowling? Is he answering Warne's famous criticism of him as having no variation and having learnt little from experience ("played one Test 30 times" etc)?
I would look for variation in length, line, loop (yeah, I know), where he bowls from etc.

Variation in speed and loop, not use of the crease as far as I can tell. Close ups showed 2 types of grip, with the variation giving flatter topspin. I think that was the one that got Pujara, it was faster, skidded on and went straight onfurriner wrote:Just got bac, see that teh Monty has a wicket.

That's what tight, parsimonious bowling does by creating pressure. Allows the bad ball to get the wicket sometimes.furriner wrote:Nothing shot, a fugging waft to a long hop outside off!

F*ck is Kohli doing? Looks a different player all of a sudden, and he did well in Australia.

Eng bowlers showing how vital is it to dry runs.
Indian trundlers missed this basic thing in the last test when KP and Cook were going hammer and tongs.

Cook's a useless tosser then. We're running up that hill again. Not the worst effort on this pitch so far though. My favourite thing is that England are looking sharper in the field. The pace bowling has been better as well. Bit weird that Swann's barely got a look in though.

Man, if you're to believe the commentators, for the past year every damn bowler to SRT appears to be bowling the spell of his career, and almost every ball seems to be a ripper....

Having now looked at Gambhir's stroke, what a dreadful shot that was!! First him running out Sehwag who was at least looking good for short duration he was at the crease and now this.
But thanks to his 'fighting' 50s in 2 consecutive innings, he'll retain his place till the end of Aus series.
