Ashwin has been well and truly exposed in this series. Its alright to set records against the bottom ranking test nations like WI and NZ, but against a strong batting lineup like Eng, he has proved to be absolutely shit.

The blessing in disguise of Compton being given is that Trott has a chance to establish an innings sooner rather than later.

His team need him to come good again, sooner rather than later: any decent side can't afford to depend on a narrow base for runs.
