Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2013
Ohhh shit...
Essentially, Dernbach is the equivalent of those football freestylers who can bounce a ball between their buttocks, but are likely to be rather less useful defending a corner in the dying minutes. That swinging 90mph yorker, so seductive and thrilling, is the exception, not the rule. Continuing to indulge him on the basis of a few magic balls is like letting a dog work in a call centre because he occasionally barks the word “Smarties”.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2013
But then, none of this is really Dernbach’s fault. He did not select himself for England, after all. And nobody would seriously attribute his scattergun accuracy to any moral deficiency. Instead, he is the sort of cricketer who emerges when you start to confuse the bag of tricks with the game itself.

India are the favorites here. Other main contenders like AUS, SA and Pakistan are starting to show some weaknesses.

New Zealand are the dark horses for mine. For one, they're probably the only team that cares about this tournament.

Aye. At the very least you'd think that they would have used the opportunity for some batting practice.
I think my Ashes watching is going to be limited to seeing if we can hold off a whitewash.
We may have little to do at Old Trafford except drink.

Anyone attending the WIndies vs. Pak match on Friday at the Oval? I'm cricketeering/volunteering there and will be happy to show you to your seat - not really! (May be on other duties, elsewhere).

Well this will be the last of them, so the winner holds the title forever. Just as Great Britain remains the Olympic cricket champion.
