There's just something about the way Hayden speaks....you have to read it twice before you just about understand what he means, and even then it's not clear.

He was actually doing pretty well until this- "Hayden has been outspoken in his criticism of Arthur and believes it was a mistake to appoint a foreign coach.

The fact that some ex Aussie cricketers find the nationality of the coach an issue makes it racist and xenophobic. If he's a good coach, he's a good coach, regardless of where he's from. Mickey Arthur is a good coach and a good man, who was coaching a bunch of selfish, overpaid twats with huge egos.

Australian cricket has the biggest 'jobs for the boys culture' of any sporting organisation in the world, imo. They've lost this Ashes series pretty convincingly, and yet no one DARES criticise 'Good old Boof'.

The double standards applied to Arthur and Lehmann are laughable, and not a great advertisement of Australia as a country where people can settle there and be treated equally, regardless of race or nationality.

Abject failure? Won a series in Sri Lanka, drew a series in South Africa, whitewashed India 4-0 in Australia, took world number 1 South Africa all the way in a narrow 1-0 loss, and cleaned up the Lankans in Australia.

Put things in perspective and consider the limited resources available to Australia these days- Arthur wasn't that bad at all. They seized on the 4-0 loss to India to round on him.

btw Taips... spent the weekend in Zambia and had a wonderful time...saw a lot - inc lion taking down a buffalo - sure beats watching kangaroos hop about and met some interesting people as well as some prize American oafs from Texas...back in Lilongwe now
