It's over. England have been counting down the hours until they can get on the plane and f*ck off back to Blighty since the first Test got all competitive-y.

Australia should give the captaincy to an inanimate carbon rod, to see if even that can show more tactical aptitude than Alastair Cook.

Well Steve Smith IS playing on Friday, and might well be captain. And Aus as weakened as they are may take until the 47th over to chase down England's below par score, as opposed to the 41st over.

We've made Steve Smith look like a non-mascotty human grown-up. He'll probably destroy us single-handedly.

Well he's currently 9 / 25 in terms of wins and hurriedly declining. OK, it'll take Flower staying there until after the WC, but that should seal twatqunt's fate.

I reckon the latest Aus squad looks quite weak on paper (but I guess that was true of every side Aus has fielded this summer).

I won't be surprised to see an easy English victory. Poms will play with more freedom with nothing on the line.

Aye, when you look at the quality of Test and JAMODI sides ATM, it's remarkable that the SAffers aren't further in front on the Test ICC ranking AND runaway no. 1 in JAMODIs (they are currently at 3).

saffies continue to choke in jamodis...maybe it is an historical thing

I still think our test side had one of our worst ever batting line-ups - yet we won 5-0...

the win and the gross margins need to be put into perspective...it is pretty clear this english side may be its worst of all time

Beetle is fit to play so that solves the captaincy question. Interesting that they say that Haddit would have been recalled if he was'nt fit. Doesnt say much for Midges leadership.

England unchanged. Because that makes perfect sense after the heaviest defeat of the series. That was a real indicator of progress.

Is there any other reason apart from being clueless that England would go in "unchanged"?

Are they saving Briggs and Woakes from scarring?

Is it a case of being obstinate, or does Eng management genuinely think this is the best, most competitive side they can put on the park?  

Perhaps Woakes has cut off all sexual favours to Gashley? Somebody maybe whispered in his ear that he has rights?
