Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Better Call Saul S03E07.
- Spoiler:
- The ep that nice Jimmy turns into scumbag Saul.
Jimmy hits rock bottom as he starts his community service, but is only credited 30 mins for the 4 hours he does collecting trash, because he was on the phone the whole time. He also has trouble hawking the air time he has paid for for his now suspended lawyer business.
Mike tries to avoid getting involved in ABQ's seedier side, but can't help but assist Nacho in his efforts to kill Hector.
Ep ends with Jimmy trying unsuccessfully to get a refund for his not-needed malpractice insurance. He breaks down and spills that Chuck had a complete break down in the recent court case. The tears are crocodile, he just wants to cost Chuck higher insurance fees. Jimmy has had enough. The real Saul Goodman stands up.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Better Call Saul S03E08
- Spoiler:
- The genesis of Jimmy into sleazebag Saul Goodman starts to accelerate. After a couple of music store goofballs try to back out of an ad deal, Jimmy/Saul slips on a stray drumstick and hurts his back. He retains his ad shooting deal plus gets a guitar thrown in.
Later he does a deal with a druggie on the same trash collecting community service that he is serving. He offers the guy a $700 cash deal to get him out of his day's shift. He threatens to sue the supervisor for various "crimes". The druggie is suitably impressed when he is free to go.
Ep was slow in places. The ep spend about 20 minutes on Nacho making replacement placebo heart pills and then swapping them with Hector's real pills.
Things start to improve health wise for Chuck but deteriorate professionally.
Mike turns to Gus for help in "hiding" $200,000 in cash that he has saved. Looks like the start of the professional partnership between the two.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Better Call Saul S03E09
- Spoiler:
- Desperate for money, Jimmy slowly turns the Sandpiper Crossing residents against the reluctant-to-settle representative Irene, until she caves.
Howard is very unhappy about the proposed hike in Liability Insurance at HHM resulting from Chuck’s behaviour at his trial v Jimmy. Howard suggests Chuck retire. Chuck instead launches a law suit against HHM.
Nacho’s plans to nobble Hector have not yet worked, so he is forced to tell his father about Hector’s plans to use his shop as a drug transportation shopfront.
Contrary to Jimmy’s offer to celebrate the Sandpiper Crossing settlement (Jimmy’s cut is over $1 Mill), a massively overworked and sleep deprived Kim heads off to a late meeting, blacks out and crashes her car.

Better Call Saul S03E10 – Season Finale
No word on Season 4 as yet.
- Spoiler:
- Chuck offers to avoid the law suit v HHM if Howard will rescind the retirement requirement. Howard rebuts, gives him the first payment of the requested $8M settlement (allegedly out of his own pocket) then gives him congratulatory stirring send off in front of the whole office. Checkmate Chuck.
Kim seems to have an epiphany and decides to actually relax and recover rather than work her arse off again from a home desk.
Chuck quickly regresses to his former paranoid-of-electricity state and becomes fixated on stopping every last electron getting into his home. He tears walls down looking for the last dribble of electricity that the meter shows being drawn.
Hector initiates his moves to take over Nacho’s father’s shop. The dad shows no gratitude when Hector gives him a wad of money, resulting in a sneering “I don’t trust him” from Hector to Nacho.
Jimmy’s conscience gets to him and he goes to check on Chuck. Chuck says “don’t bother, you’re bad, and I never cared about you”.
Despite much effort on Jimmy’s part, the residents of Sandpiper Crossing won’t cut Irene slack. So he resorts to a ruse where he prompts an abusive exchange with Sandpiper Crossing while he wears an open mike. The residents hear that it was all Jimmy’s doing.
Gus’s boss pulls rank on Hector re: the transportation of drugs, Hector has a temper tantrum and a massive heart attack (obviously leading to his vegetable state as seen in BB).
In the dark in his torn apart house, Chuck kicks a gas lamp off a table, igniting a fire that apparently kills him
No word on Season 4 as yet.

Sorry, just saw this now. Hotstar is pretty decent. Apart from when they decide to ****** Futurama off. Will have to pay to watch the better series like silicon valley. Not so interested in it yet, though.furriner wrote:What legal service would you recommend?

For Aussies. If you are not watching the football tonight, SBS are showing one of my all time favorite movies at 8.30.' Still Crazy'.
Great performances by Bill Nighy, Jimmy Nail & Billy Connolly & a killer original soundtrack.

Apparently* the authors of the original story wanted nothing to do with it. I've recorded it but haven't seen it yet.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
For people who use Netflix:
* The second season of Altered Carbon commences on 27 Feb in Oz.
* Season 3 of Babylon Berlin commences 1 March.
Altered Carbon, along with The Expanse, is one of the better Sci Fi series made in recent times.
As for Babylon Berlin, I had to go back to Callan to find a series that was its equal.
All the episodes of Callan by the way are on EweTube. Early last year I re-watched the series. It still stands up remarkably well.

The Boys on Amazon prime. Very good.
Superhero series. But not the usual fare. Definitely worth a watch. Just went too far on the religious stuff in two of the episodes. Found that a bit tasteless.
Watchmen, otoh, was just shit.

Yep, Boys was excellent. Dark as fark. Can't wait for season 2. Remind me what the religious stuff was again?
Watchmen should have been brilliant and the production was amazing. But the storyline was all over the place.

The function in starlight's town. You will find Jesus and all that. Thought they'd portrayed the bad parts well enough without the church, sex, comical rallies etc.

After crusading against panic mongerers Sky has decided to go 24/7 coverage. Same with the ABC, but at least they're balanced ( hehehe awake skulls). Fat toothless dickheads loaded up with homemade hootch sticking their thumbs up catfish areseholes is a pleasant change and maybe an allegory.
