Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Sheldon will be pissed that he didn't prove the theory.
"80 years after they were first theorized, scientists have just created an artificial magnetic monopole.
Monopoles were first conceived in their modern form more than 80 years ago by Paul Dirac, one of the founders of quantum mechanics."
------------------------------------------
For those who are not fans of The Big Bang Theory - Sheldon Cooper - self-appointed-smartest-man-on-the-planet - spent 3 months with his 3 friends at the North Pole in the dead of winter trying to prove the existence of monopoles - and thought he'd succeeded - only to find his buddies faked some effects to end the hellish experience. It lead to this amusing moment.

All right, five episodes of True Detective down, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that the last two have been the best TV since Breaking Bad.
You should really be watching this. It's outstanding.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Decided to give Burn Notice a go as someone had left the first series at the flat I moved to in January.
Nothing particularly special but it's been a fun ride, in large part due to Bruce Campbell.
Went through a few stages with Jesse, started with "Who's this prick who thinks he's all that?" to "Oh FFS they are adding him to the main cast!" to "Oh, well he's still not in it that much at least" to "Actually, he's alright really".

Yeah, Burn Notice is pretty good. An ex-spy helped write it, so it's pretty interesting to see how shit is supposed to go down 'really' for CIA ops.

Get on episode five, stat.
I thought I knew roughly where we headed until this episode. Now I don't know what day it is.

Bear with it. Starts slow. Dialogue heavy. But every line is very carefully crafted and your attention to detail will pay off down the line.
Also, spectacular breasts in episode two. Spectacular.

...but invariably does not...having watched the 4 epi series of Persons of Interest which used film taken by Oz's uquivalent of the CIA, I conclude that spies are more keystone cops than 007,,,that said ASIO is not funny and have spied on and brutalised Oz citzens

I thought Ep 5 was the best hour of television I have seen in a very long time. Certainly since Scott and Charlene got married.
Agree wholeheartedly with the assessment of the boobage in Ep2

That's what was missing - some Angry Anderson in the background.
But it was right up there with the "Bouncer's dream" episode.

Has anyone been watching Rectify? Any good?

Trev is would say it is already locked in doe the Emmys and Harrelson and McConaughey will be fighting it out for best actor.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
You would have got long odds five years ago that Harrelson and McConaughey would be fighting it out for a drama Emmy award in 2014. Up until recently both their careers were in the toilet, surrounded by bad comedy tasting toilet water.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Just caught up on True Detective. Beautiful to look at. It reminds me of Kill List, Stoker, Angel Heart and some other stuff I can't pinpoint at the moment. Brilliant. Always loved Harrelson and had a massive man-crush on McConaughey since seeing Mud.
- Spoiler:
- At present, IMO, all paths lead to Marty being part of the inevitable satanic cult at the heart of this. Perhaps he's even The Yellow King himself but probably not. And clearly the Tuttle's are/were in some way involved - at least I think this is what Rust's been thinking ever since he clocked on to the eagerness of the task force to take the case on.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Whoa - spoilers, Laz. Spangler's watching on Sky Atlantic speed (for some reason) and is only one episode in.
Don't like Marty for it.
Don't like Marty for it.
- Spoiler:
- But there's something f-ed up going on with his family. His daughter, Audrey, is the key. Drawing sexual images, lining her Barbie dolls up into a gangbang. Taking part in gangbangs a few years later. She's been abused. Probably. But not by Marty - he hasn't got a clue what's going on right under his nose as he's always off being a big swinging dick elsewhere.
Maggie's dad's the one to look at. He's in on it. Reckon.
I think it's a group of five prominent players. That's how many beer can people Rust made. That's how many Ken's attended Audrey's Barbie orgy.
And Rust is tracking them down and killing them off one by one as they reveal themselves to him. Possibly.
Actually, now I've aired this poorly considered theory, maybe Marty could be the Yellow King. That's the final scene. Rust has tracked and killed four of the gang, but he just can't work out who the fifth and final member is... SSSHUNK!! Marty knifes him in the back. And then has sex with his corpse.
FADE TO BLACK
Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Gor blimey. I just got spoilered.
Spoilered once in the A and twice in the M. Oh well.
Alls I came in here for was to say that I concur with Dello's high breastage rating and - BAM! - spoiler juice all stuck in my stubble.
Gonna need more than one wet-wipe to clean that shit up.
