Re: AFL 2014
What sort of "get out" clause did the AFLPA put in the Bomber's players contracts if Essendon can refuse to trade Paddy Ryder if the deal isn't good enough?
Or is it another case of delusional legal work at the Bombers?

Re: AFL 2014
If Adam Cooney does find his way to Carlton next year they will have three of the top 5 from the 2003 draft on their books (also Andrew Walker and Brock McLean).
Walker will be the only pick from the top half dozen to still be at the club that drafted him.
The top 40 from that draft produced a grand total of three premierships (Waters and Butler from WC and Mark Blake) and about another 8 GF appearances, only one of these (2009 Meatloaf candidate Raph Clarke) from the top 10.
Which idiot was it called the Draft an overgrown Keno game?

lardbucket wrote:"the Victorian clubs believe" ... that's a bit of a generalisation, isn't it? Which clubs do you imagine you're speaking for? Isn't it just Collingwood whinging and hard done by?
Their draft picks must have been consistently much lower than the Swans, the Hawks and the Cats over the last 7-8 years I guess; that just has to be the reason for their relative lack of success ... surely it can't be anything to do with poor coaching and poor list management?
The persistent whining and entitlement from this club (starting at the top with its detestable president) and some of its fans is enough to turn the stomach; it really is not hard to see why there are so many ABC supporters.
thank you Lardy....am serious that there is a possibility of a stand alone Tas team if the druggies are sued into receivership

Carameri and Prisnall have retained a different lawyer to the other Dons players...looks like they will take a plea...this will help Ryder get out of the basket case

I'd love it to happen, but it won't happen.
A much more natural development would be for Richmond to re-locate to Tassie, becoming the Richmond Tasmania Tigers (based in Richmond, just out of Hobart), with their games played at Bellerive (not far from Richmond/Cambridge). That won't happen either, although I've wondered about its feasibility off and on since the days of Richmond and Melbourne sharing or competing for MCG digs.

Re: AFL 2014
hehehe...the feral tiger army would go nutsoid
Essendon have already spent over $8.0M on all this...if players are penalised and if they hold concerns for their health they are in a position to sue the club....loss of reputation, earnings come into play...34 players at conservatively 0.5M each is another $17.0M plus the lawyers are in to it too...Hird will end up costing the club a motza...I see no change from a further $20M which I doubt they have...I expect other clubs would oppose the AFL bailing them out

Christensen apparently wants to leave the Cats for Brisbane or the Suns.
Wonder if we could get Gazza back as a trade?

Don't think so. Players attracting interest is all. Varcoe and Taylor Hunt seem more likely to depart than Tom L; the Bundy news was a surprise. Can only surmise he has a hot Billy girlfriend.

Re: AFL 2014
no one wants to be traded tothe Dons and plenty want out
the pies continue to have decent players wanting out and no-one (not even Mitch Clark) wants to go there
the bullies are losing players like trees lose leaves in Autumn but at least it looks like some players would not mind beng traded there
Cats for a variety of reasons may lose a few but many players from other teams would like to be traded there

Re: AFL 2014
And in another bombshell the AFL has told Sydney it can't bring ANY new players (via way of a trade or free agency) to the club this year or next unless it agrees to an immediate end to the COLA arrangements.
Garlett has become a Dee and O'Rourke a Hawk.

swans entitled to feel aggrieved and the AFLPA are furious...apparently cola is still allowed at GWS...go figure....Eddie wil be happy tho it seems no half decent player wants to play under figjam
so at present we have
Essendon and Collingwood - no player wants go there Sydney - where no player is allowed to be traded
Footscray - a basket case where players are deserting
all good news for the Dawks
