Doubt the change would stand up in court
Poor timing on the decision ...middle of trade period ...just after they lost a current all australian
other clubs are probably saying it should have been said one or two years ago when they landed Tippett and then Franklin in dodgy deals

To the AFL over this stuff up a Big FU , I guess in logic only known to them a ban on drafting free agents is making a level playing field.

Re: AFL 2014
The AFL are still mad that Bud went to the Swans when their plan was for him to go to GWS.
They were perfectly happy when the Bloods traded in players no-one wanted
They are being punished in effect for operating within the rules
the whole thing is bizarre

Re: AFL 2014
So another year in the offing where the top clubs will stay the top clubs & the rest can please themselves. The AFL had better get their heads out of their arses & put some logic in the draft/transfer system.
Re: AFL 2014
Tiges interested in Jack Trengove for their #12 pick. And Griffen still wants to leave the dogs despite the resignation of the coach.

Indeed, rumour has it this all came about because the Swans were chasing Patfull who surprise surprise ended up going to GWS. Hmmm.

A big deal involving Beams, Greenwood, Lumumba etc. seems to have gone through.

The AFL maintains that it loves all this publicity so that it can dominate the sports pages this time of the year at the expense of cricket, soccer etc. but some people have been writing letters complaining about the erosion of loyalty and so on. Interesting that the AFL is never averse to adverse publicity.

The AFL seem to run on the idea any publicity is good publicity, regardless of what it is doing to the game.

Spot on Blackadder...for any publicity read the druggies and Collingwood, both of which are irrelevent to the future of afl

Hmmm Boyd to the Dogs on a Seven year deal @ 1 Million per season, of course no one will bat at eye lid at that.

He'll be 26 when the deal finishes ...not 36
Dogs have plenty of cap room (if they don't then there is some overpaid crabs on their list) ...Sydney had won a premiership the year before and had then topped up with an overpaid key forward (and have lost a current AA this season) (and GWS/AFL would have matched the Sydney offer)
The risk for the dogs is the lad has played 9 games and kicked 8 goals (the sky is the limit on potential but look at Jack Watts or Scott Gumbleton) ...Bud was an established superstar has a few years of superstardom in him
