Hello lardbucket,
It has been over 5 years since the last update.
Did you have any success in compiling a Glossary update, or shall I use this thread as a guide to do the update myself.
Regards
Fromage

Re: Glossary update 2015
We’ve had a couple of debates on this in recent years, in terms of, say, player nicknames just coined and used by one person. Given the small number of regular posters these days though, maybe we can relax that rule a bit!

Re: Glossary update 2015
Anyway, recent ones that I’ve used or seen:
Joffrey: England pace bowler Jofra Archer. From Game of Thrones villain King Joffrey Baratheon, who was almost as nasty as Archer’s bouncers, with also perhaps a nod to crooked politician/author Jeffrey Archer.
Inter: South Africa opening batsman Pieter Malan (qv “AC”).
Glass: England paceman Mark Wood, given his fragility more akin to an alternative building material.
Champagne or Oasis: A super-over, as per the classic song...
Jon Snow: A night(‘s)watchman. Another GoT reference (not to be confused with the ‘70s fast bowler, who has an additional “h”, or the Channel 4 newsreader, who doesn’t).
I’ll let Skully cover off the Aussie players of recent times...

Thought I'd have a squizz thru this thread. The above was posted on Dec 9, 2016.
Oi, Mr bucket, I know you were and are a very busy chap, but did the proposed dump ever happen?? I'm guessing "not".

Re: Glossary update 2015
I'm going to invoke the dump defence.
there are large chunks done but in keeping with a general inability to finish jobs properly or send them off half done, I've not dumped on Fromage, if he's even there to receive the said blumpy.

There is not quite the same distance between Jofra's and Jeffrey's best and worst work, If there was, Jofra's bad would make Raul Lewis FFS look like Lillee or Holding.

He was a spinner, wasn’t he? You’d have some job making him look like those two by any means…Fred Nerk wrote:beamer wrote:Anyway, recent ones that I’ve used or seen:

Re: Glossary update 2015
Some humbly suggested additions...
"Shrapnel" for Labuschagne from "Loose Bus Change"
"A Watson" - an extremely poor, shitty and wasteful DRS review. One that was clearly out (or not out). From former Aus "allrounder" Shane Watson's propensity for calling for a review after falling to a plumb lbw.
"Mariah" - Aus's new wicketkeeper Alex Carey.
"Ebba" or "Scrooge" - new Aus player Michael Neser (pronounced Neezer), after Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol".
"Blow" or "Blowie" - Aus middle order bat Travis Head, for obvious reasons.
"AC" - Dawid Malan, after the Italian Serie A superpower football team.
"JRich" - for Jhye Richardson, new Aus seamer.

Re: Glossary update 2015
Also...
"Snot" - new Aus no. 6 Cameron Green.
"Leak FFS" - Jack Leach, England's hapless left arm orthodox spinner who can't take wickets. After "Lewis FFS" - a bowler who concedes a ridiculous amount of runs at a very high RPO.
