Ayeayeaye. Am reduced to mob. Hopefully they will get my WiFi access sorted so I can use the laptop. TBH, I would not trust what my editing would produce.

Belated entry. What about calling Steve O'Keefe "Woody" in honour of our late little mate due to the sock connection???
No?? Gets coat.
No?? Gets coat.

A bit tenuous but i could live with it.
Re: Glossary update 2015
Tenuous is our thing. Do I need to remind you how "Elmer" was derived?

Seconded. A bit topbottomish as to glossary inclusion.

Re: Glossary update 2015
Hello everyone
Referring to a recent post in the India v Aus ODI thread, it appears that a Glossary update is well overdue.
I will use entries in this thread plus the post in question (and other sources) to revise the Glossary over coming days.
Please feel free to add any suggested inclusions.
Regards
Fromage

Re: Glossary update 2015
For Mr bucket's benefit (from the Ind v Aus thread)...
Qunt Denile: Nathan Coulter-Nile (a play on his surname).
Tweek: Steve Smith, named after South Park character Tweek, who is a very nervous fidgeter (a reference to Smith's fidgety batting preparation each ball).
Stain: Marcus Stoinis.
Hard Dick/Erection: Indian player Hardik Pandya.
Emma: Indian legend MS Dhoni. Labelled Emma Stoney on the forum some years back, or Emma for short.
Zampa: Well, this is just Adam Zampa, but he is known as Frank (Zappa) or Zorba/Zorbs (used by Aus teammates).
Donkey: Hilton "Hoss" Cartwright, as labelled by horrie.
Steak Knives: Mitchell "Puddle" Marsh, as labelled by horrie.
Seasick Steve: as coined by Fred Nerk. Refers to the look of nausea on his face.

Re: Glossary update 2015
Toblerones: Toby Roland-Jones. A chocolate bar with starry honeycomb bits characterised by peaks and troughs. By coincidence of several sounds, applied to a bowler with a similarly protracted name.
AC: Middlesex middle-order battler Dawid Malan. Punning connection of surname to a famous Italian football (soccer) club. Coined by forum member beamer (? - or was it Basil?)
Nephew: England batsman and fresh-faced captain Joe Root. Coined by forum member Brass Monkey as a result of perceived resemblance to just about anyone's nephew. Note: Later shortened by forum Member Skully to "Neph".
(Chris) Blokes: Warwickshire bowling all-rounder C Woakes. Rhyming suggestion he was military-medium bage, a humdrum bat, & chosen by England selectors principally for being "a good bloke". Coined by forum member Brass Monkey. The moniker has been less seen since: a) Woakes improved in pace and performance; b) BM's contributions became scarce, owing to personal commitments.
Kolpakshire: any English First-Class county - context indicating which - considered too keen to buy in (at times temporary) abjurors of foreign national eligibility, instead of bringing on their own young talent. Boo to this sort of thing.

Re: Glossary update 2015
New Hope, A: West Indies batsman Shai Hope, after his cricketing transformation from Jar-Jar Binks to Jedi master poised to restore order to Caribbean cricket.
No Hope: Version of the above who arrived in England averaging under 20 in Tests.
Bob Hope: Kyle, the still hapless and Hopeless brother of the above.
Noddy: West Indies captain Jason Holder, from veteran glam-rocker namesake.

Re: Glossary update 2015
In this day and age, I think two people using a term, or even one person for long enough, counts as "general usage"...

Re: Glossary update 2015
One person pushing a barrow seems to be enough in many cases.
eg I prefer 'coconut' for Shai, so that's straight in.

??
And as Mr bucket alludes, given that those with access to editing the Glossary are few in number, lardy may well become lord and master of arbitration when it comes to what's in and what's out.

Still prefer Mishmash for Mitchell Marsh, even more so since it now describes so well his career and his role in the team.
