Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
JGK wrote:In QT today:
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten begins with a question for Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
"Given that it's only taken two days for the Liberal cabinet to start leaking again, doesn't this just prove that even though there's a new Liberal leader, it's the same policies, the same chaos and the same division?" he asks.
"The heartlessness of the Leader of the Opposition is in full evidence today," Mr Turnbull says. "I mean, he has no compassion, no feeling for the thousands of people watching question time week after week whom he bores and drives to the point of complete frustration with one pointless political claim after another."
"It is indicative of the engaging and collaborative style of my government that I'm prepared to help the Leader of the Opposition and actually show him a question. So the
question could have been, 'What does - how does the Prime Minister react to the claim that a very small percentage of women were appointed by him to Government boards?' That would be a reasonable question and I'll give him the answer."
"The Government remains committed to its target of women holding 40 per cent of positions on Australian Government boards and I point to the official data which will be published in the gender balance on Australian government boards report 2014/15 later this year and it shows that women held 40per cent of communications portfolio board appointments".
Target = quota?

Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (XII)
I'd have to say that the going's on in Australian politics is a shed load more intriguing than
what is taking place here in Parliament - especially on the opposition benches!
It was hilarious at PMQ time yesterday when Jeremy Corbin lobbed in questions he'd asked
the public to contribute ... Marie from Putney; Steven from Manchester; Paul, Claire, Gail and
Angela all submitted their questions to Cameron from the ballet box via the mouthpiece of Corbyn...
" People don't want their leaders to think up the questions" Corbyn remarked, "They want to do it themselves!"
It was strange to behold the disappearance of the cut and thrust of PMQ ... unlike (from the sounds of things)
that in the Australian Senate!

Looks like the ScoMo - Ray Hadley lovefest might have officially ended today.

By the way...I have never thought the fascists are funny...BUT ...the screams from the Oz and Murdoch press and the weazling of Andrews, Abetz and Dutton are damned funny...apparently the Uber Credlin has gone all passive aggressive and is taking an inordinate amount of time to exit her office.....
Meanwhile Short Pants must surely be filling them. Yes a bounce to Turnbull was expected - no surprise given the incomprehensible dill he replaced...But....I am expecting the Libs to now win Canning with a slightly increased majority

Keep an eye out for Matt Keogh in the future
He may not win the Canning byelection ( if he does it's because Wozzie voters do funny things) but he'll pop up again somewhere
Has done nothing wrong in the campaign and seems a likeable candidate ...if he has no skeletons that emerge then he will end up somewhere high (Fed or state minister or wozzie premier)

One good thing about Turncoat's ascendance is that it might put that fraud Shortarse to the sword. Shirley the Pinkos will install Albo as boss before long?

You know it's not a bad week when the worst case scenario for a pinko is Turnbull winning the next election. And the less than worse bordering on better scenarios are just too delicious to contemplate.

I wonder if we'll get any PM serving more than 2 years over the coming 10? Sounds like News Poll rules the knife-sharpening of the backroom boys in each party.

ScoMo may also have cruelled his long term ambitions as the lunar right are blaming him for the MM's defrocking

It's an ongoing series of intrigue and successive backstabbings, it seems.

MIGHT????
Last week Bill was the only politician in Australia who was capable of losing an election to Tony Abbott (and if Mal hadn't got off his arse he probably would have). AA will be Akela by Christmas.

If Albanese becomes ALP leader, we will only have one scumbag in charge of a major political party - for the first time in almost a decade.
Almost unbelievably, Shorten represent the utter nadir of ALP leadership, even after Latham, Rudd, and Gillard. Watching Shorten and Abbott trying to out-shizzle each other has been like watching Brisbane v Carlton in a battle for the wooden spoon, with both teams trying to lose ...

If Albo's got any sense he'll stay right the fark out of it. Forget the fact it's almost impossible to knife a sitting pinko leader, it becomes impossible if that PL has the backing of the unions. Sit back and wait until Shorten loses, Turnbull becomes the Messiah of the centrist libs and the neo-fascists split the party.
