Re: Ashes 2017-2018 countdown
Paul Twible it was. He looked a bit like Mike Whitney only nowhere near as tall, or like another Paul from another sport from that time, Paul McNamee.

skully, you must be looking at a different link.

This is what I get when I open your link:
It clearly shows Souths were the Premiers in the year Nerkles refers to: Easter 1989 (1988-89). It makes sense given that Paul Twible played his whole career with Souths.

England have arrived in Perth, Stokes-less. I wonder how the results column will look in 3 months time.

Grim. I predict gcspoc will replace SS for T4. Reeks FFS will be v-c. Steak Knives will be selected for T4, make 20 and 3 and take match figures of 4-260, enough for bnlg to anoint him as an auto selection for the next decade. Snifty will keep for the series and enthusiastically clap Pom centuries - "what a sport". Uber K will play the first Test, score 46 and 0 and be dropped as Oz pitches resemble Subi-con conditions. Lyon will take 3 second innings wickets. There will be a humongous number of kfc ads shown on Nein, all of which are filmed in Sydney and Perth, as they like that sort of food.
Donkey will be Oz mots, averaging 26 with the bat and 51 with the ball.
What are the other predictions
?
BNLG will replace Boof as coach and co chair the NSP with K Jnr.
Lastly I predict significant liver damage to Qmy and myself.

Guessing Australia 4 England 1
Stokes or not, their batting isn't good enough right now.

Injury concerns for Mo Ali & Steve Finn. Both out of the opening tour game.

Smith, who is a crap captain but probably the best batsmen we're likely to select should be forced to bat at 6. We could then stack the batting lineup with actual batsmen. Because our frontline bowlers are going to crumple like cheap suits.

Re: Ashes 2017-2018 countdown
Finn may be a fringe member of the squad this time around but we really can’t afford to lose Moeen... if he misses the first Test what exactly do we do? Woakes at 7 followed by four rabbits? In terms of the spin slot, do they give Frasier a debut in the toughest of circumstances? Call up Les Dawson? No spinner at all and play Foakes to bolster the batting, with Root having to turn his arm over a bit to avoid an over-rate ban? Get Swanny out of the commentary box to bowl left arm? None of the options look great...Big Dog wrote:Injury concerns for Mo Ali & Steve Finn. Both out of the opening tour game.

Cook out second ball of the tour (to Capn C-Nile).
Just as well it's just a warm-up.

Jimmy in the wickets, Broad and Woakes struggling. It's as though the English season had not finished.

Do you actually have to specify what you're appealing for? I can remember being asked and asking but not sure of the process.

Re: Ashes 2017-2018 countdown
The Assassin will confirm, but I don't think so. I base this on the fact that you often see DRS reviews where no edge is detected then the 3rd umpire checks for lbw.
Meanwhile, the form + undroppable Aus Test XI at the moment is:
GCS
Wozzie Vomit Harris (Bancroft currently 50* v Spivs)
Ooze
Tweek
Wank
NoShow (sigh) (maybe Little Boof is in the mix)
Weed/Nifty
Koo
2nd (hmm maybe Tweet, Beerdork, Doom and Neser are also in the mix)
Purple
Elmer
