Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Geez, the Bannies were cruising at 2-146 off 28 overs (chasing 270) but fell in a heap to Zampa and Agar.

The highlight was when the eagle (or kite) gave Stoinis a scare as he came in to bowl.

Hard to believe Agar would have been any worse than Kuhnemann in T2-4. I wonder whose dinner plate he shat on.

That’s not one-day cricket… though maybe needs its own thread in advance (if the date is confirmed?)Nath wrote:ch7/7plus have the live and exclusive rights to the World Test Championship Final. guess Fox Cricket had their thumb in their bum expecting the rights to go to them on the cheap

Sri Lanka miss out on automatic World Cup qualification, and will face the final qualifying tournament. South Africa and Ireland both still have chances to overhaul West Indies for the one remaining automatic place.

Pakistan belting a second rate NZ (Latham-led; with no Kane/Boult/Southee) on a Rawalpindi road.
Mark Chapman in NZ’s team is begging for a tasteless FB nickname. Dakota, maybe.

There’s a prominent British TV sports presenter by that name, which has made me almost forget its historical connotations…

The Pakistanis have smashed NZ in their second ODI as well - another road, with the same Fakhars making big scores.

Reminds me of when a Fakir dismissed GSC at Adelaide years ago.
GSC barked back at Javed Miandad after the former thought the latter was swearing at him when he yelled "You got him, Fakir". GSC thought it was "You got the farker".

Pakistan now up 4-0 over the Kiwis. Only the 3rd ODI was close.

The final World Cup qualifying tournament is underway… and Ireland lose to Oman, which probably all but confirms WI and SL’s qualification even at this early stage.

374 apiece and then the Dutch score 30 off the Champagne!
WI hopes hanging by a thread, they’ll surely have to win their three games in the Super Six stage and maybe rely on other results as well. Ireland have already fallen in the other group, which I thought at first helps their cause, but actually I think it means Zimbabwe just have to beat Scotland and Oman to make it at WI’s expense (assuming SL do so comfortably).

Given the Frames’ NRR after a 304-run win over the Yanks, even winning one of their three games in the next stage could be enough. And they’re at home, of course…

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Scotland threatened to throw a spanner into the works restricting SL to 245, but the Scottish batting subsided to keep the favourites unbeaten. Ireland thrashed the UAE in a dead rubber, their hopes already over.
I think it’s the same format as the 99/03 World Cup Super Six now, with points carried over from teams already played, and everyone playing the three remaining teams they haven’t faced yet, and two to qualify.
SL 4 points carried through (NRR 3.047, Zim/Ned/WI to play)
Zim 4 (2.241, SL/Sco/Oman)
Ned 2 (0.669, SL/Sco/Oman)
Sco 2 (0.540, Zim/Ned/WI)
WI 0 (0.525, SL/Sco/Oman)
Oman 0 (-1.221, Zim/Ned/WI)
WI really do need a miracle… they need either the Dutch to beat SL or Oman to turn over the hosts, as well as some substantial NRR swings!

Zimbabwe survive a scare against Oman, and are effectively one win away from a plane ticket to India.

Scotland need to chase down 182 to end WI’s hopes, and maintain their own. Noddy’s 45 was the peak of the Caribbean resistance.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
And the Scots see it through! The hosts, who had appeared to be cruising with two matches left, are now eliminated based on NRR.
Scotland and Holland now have a head-to-head showdown for what would be a remarkable qualification for either, having seen off three Test/Full Member nations. The Dutch probably need a sizeable margin of victory to do it.

And the men in orange have done it, snatching it from Scotland at the last, a couple of overs in hand in terms of the NRR target.
Surely both have shown they deserve full member status at least as much as the Irish?
