Re: Rugby League 2023
What a terrible team the Dragons are. Outplayed by a much more focussed Dogs.

Nags snotted the C.Filth last night.
Today the Raiders outlasted the Dogs, and the Panthers got back in the winner's circle with a scrappy win over the Warriors.
Storm v Bunnies tonight.

Souths were way too slick for the Storm last night.
They look a class outfit this year.

Funny but sad re the Drags who I have a soft spot for.
Happy the Bunnies who I also have soft spot for are travelling ok.
I am however disturbed the vile Nags are winning games.

Re: Rugby League 2023
Hook hooked.
"St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin has become the first NRL coach sacked in 2023.
Dragons chairman Andrew Lancaster informed Griffin of the club’s decision in Wollongong on Tuesday morning.
...
In a bizarre decision the Dragons had also organised for eight Red V players to front the media at 8.30am at the club’s Wollongong headquarters.
So while Red V chairman Lancaster informed Griffin of the decision at 8am - the players were then forced to front up and face questions they had no answers for.
St George Illawarra captain Ben Hunt was understandably fuming at the way the club has handled the situation."
----------------------------------
Just WTF is wrong with the idiots running St George??
The decision to axe Griffin was right IMHO, but why make your 8 leading players front the media immediately after they were informed of Hook's sacking. Ferkin idiotic!!!

Re: Rugby League 2023
Not sorry to see Hook go BUT WTF is this obsession with Ryles? He was a (talented) moron as a player which generally doesn't transfer well to being a good coach.

100% agree, MrK.
My vain hope is that even though he's as outwardly dumb as Harry Bath appeared to be, he'll be as good a coach as the legendary '77 and '79 winning coach.

Re: Rugby League 2023
Good win by the Choccies over the Nags tonight.
The Broncs did very well to only lose by 11 (15-4). At Oranges it looked that Penrith may run away with it in the 2nd stanza.
The Pennies are starting to look very good again. And their slow 1st half of season form (although they are momentarily top of the ladder) might work in their favour with more Rabbit players picked for NSW than Panthers players.

Re: Rugby League 2023
Was actually watching the Drags' game tonight at the little bro's place in Port Mac.
The game was panning out as expected towards a St George loss (after a pretty good start) until a very last second try got them home. Must admit I cheered out loud.
In the later game, the Slimeys unexpectedly easily accounted for the Bunnies, much to the little bro's delight.
So a good night for the brothers skully.

Jesus, the shitty Tiges belted the Cows 66-18 at Leichhardt.
Elsewhere, the Sharks snotted the Nits in Coffs 26-6 and the Squall held off a fast-finishing Fins to win 24-16.

so aside from Fox driving up the price, I doubt 10/Paramount would seriously entertain a bidding war with Nine for NRL rights.

Pretty awful game Nits v Filthy tonight.
The only good part was Manly losing.
Meanwhile, the shitty Drags are now last FFS. And they might lose by 100 v Penrith next week.

Re: Rugby League 2023
Jason Ryles has thumbed his nose at the Dragons' head coaching job and will turn out as an assistant coach to Craig Bellamy at the Storm.
Ryles wanted Des Hasler-like control over all football operations, but the St George Executive said "no".
Probably a good thing for the Drags. Ryles aint ready for the big time yet, IMHO.

Re: Rugby League 2023
What an Executive at the Dragons. What else can they fark up?
Since Benny left at the end of 2011 its been nothing but poor coaching selections, poor recruitment and poor results.
First rule of sponsorship - WIN GAMES. Oh dear.

Looks like Flanno is the next target although I thought one of the Board was 100% against him and the selection needed to be unanimous.

Re: Rugby League 2023
LOL. The last placed Drags held off a fast finishing Bunnies.
My team were up 36-14 but just held on to win 36-30.
The Cleary-less Pennies flogged the R00ters 30-6. Although the Blues Liam Martin (probably our best in SoO1) was injured. Sigh.

Re: Rugby League 2023
Apparently* Ex-Cronulla Premiership winning coach Shane Flanagan has been signed by the Dragons on a 3-year deal.
At this stage I would say it is a good outcome, something I railed against when Griffin was signed. Time will tell.
