Yanks are funny.

They always use the total medal count (Gold + Silver + Bronze) to determine who is top of the medal tally.

Because they have a massive team that competes in al events, they pick up lots of minor meals. This method ensure they are always on top of the medal count as per the US media, no matter that the standard method is the country with the most Gold is treated as top of the tally.

So although Italy and Japan top the table with 6 Gold each (USA 3 Gold), Yank media shows the USA on top by virtue of the total medal count (USA 20 to France's 16).

Arrogant tiny-minded twats.

Just noted the Rugby 7 women are in the playoff for bronze v USA after unexpectedly but badly going down to Canada in their semi.

And they get pipped for Bronze by a last play long distance try.

Meanwhile Hayley McKeown powers home to win Gold in the 100m backstroke.

I watched the Men's water polo last night, with Australia unexpectedly defeating the host nation. Excellent game, with the Australian goalie probably winning the game for his side.

The Women's beach volleyball, Australia v Canada, was also a very pleasing spectacle, with Australia coming out well on top. Some real talent on show.
