I wasn't limiting my comment to AFL, Mr K, merely using the latest example. NRL and AFL players would go head-to-head in a stoopidity contest, no dramas at all, with the match ending in a double knock-out. Hell, even other codes have been known to kick a quokka or two.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
Robert Harvey deserves a mention here.
I saw his 3rd game in 1988, which was the 9th game of Aussie rules i had been to. He had 19 touches and kicked two goals in a predictable defeat at the hands of Hawthorn out at Waverley. He would, incredibly, average 7 possessions per game more than that for the rest of his career.
If St Kilda miss the 8 this year i will see his last game against the Bombers at Docklands almost exactly 20 years later (which will be the 223rd game i've seen).
Sheedy gone last year and Harvey this year has severed the connection with those amazing early years i spent in Oz.
He's right up there among the great players of that time, to be talked of in the same breath as Hird and Williams. The coach could just say to him "go out and play wherever you want" knowing that he would produce the goods 9 times out of 10.
Sheer Class.

Good point tya - in the week of Didak, Carey and Co, Harvey is a true "role model".

Well who would have thought - the Swans accurate kicking actually won them a match with Goodes kicking 8!

I read today that Robert Harvey is Neil Harvey's grand-nephew.

Yaeah - and he was a handy cricketer too. Played A-grade in Melbourne (for Essendon) till he was about 23 and at one stage was close to State selection - unlike Simon O'Donnell and Craig Bradley back home in SA they didn't dangle the carrot under his nose before he was ready in a bid to keep him in the game.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
I'm sick of all this anti-Eagles rubbish, mostly spouted by Nerk and Horrie.
Accusations of tanking, accusations of underperforming due to no longer being on drugs et cetera et cetera. Why then does no one question the performance of Port Adelaide? Last year's grand finalists FFS. They are only one win ahead of us, and after next week WCE will probably be level on wins.
Did Port lose its two best players at the end of last season. Have they been decimated by injury as much as the Eagles such as the long absences to players like Glass, Hunter and Kerr??
WCE will be back, and only the bitter like those named above will think otherwise, I guess 1992 still hurts when we took their beloved flag from the ugly vixens.

That was only ever for VoR's benefit but I'll bear you in mind in future.
And also: Aw diddums.

Spout anti Carlton and anti South Melbourne crap back at them ...most of what they say is bullshit designed to offend the supporters of the club in question or shows them to be deluded to reality
There are no Port supporters on the board
Cousin's left because of inaction by the club to control his problems ...Judd left . you were compensated for it ....Kerr's problems have mostly been his own fault ...Glass has only missed one game ...Hunter is a crab ...You could probably name three players at any club who have missed as many games (or played injured at reduced capacity)
West Coast will be back ...but it's fun to kick them while they are down ...to only win two flags with the WA SOO side was a joke
