He had a very slow start to his career but has been doing well over the last 3/4 seasons. Also he looks the part so they have given him a chance.
As I type he is bowled buy a beauty from Vaas. That man is a genius.

Now Marlon goes to an iffy lbw decision by Taufel. We haven't really had the rub of the green from the umps in this series.

Sanga is such a cheat. Thats 2/3 times he knew it was nowhere near the bat and yet he still appealed with gusto.

Sarwan, Samuels and Chanderpaul is a seriously good MO. If they'd just use their common sense, push Gayle down to 6 in tests and find two decent openers, the batting line-up would be awesome, to rival the better ones playing now.

sarwan has never really stepped up in tests and samuels has never stepped up full stop. there middle order was frightening when they had hooper and lara to complement shiv and sarwan - i remember the 2002 wi-ind series, it was basically a middle order face off

Devon Smith plays a beautiful cover drive for 4 off Murali and seems to be playing Murali pretty well on the whole.

Aye; that is one of the frustrations with WI. It is not that they don't have talent, especially batting-wise; but mentally they just blow it all the time.Ash wrote:sarwan has never really stepped up in tests and samuels has never stepped up full stop. there middle order was frightening when they had hooper and lara to complement shiv and sarwan - i remember the 2002 wi-ind series, it was basically a middle order face off

Where do we find those. There is a reason why Smith and Ganga get games for us. I think Gayle basically has to open.

Yup, they do have the players to be better than NZ and win more games than lose at home, but they fall apart somehow.

I think this would be a good side:
Gayle
Smith
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Samuels
Bravo
Ramdin
Sammy
Taylor
Jaggernauth
Edwards/Powell/Collymore
Bats very deep. Lots of bowling options.

As a frequent visitor to Trinidad (and soon to be resident) I have joined in with VILLAGE teams in their practice. JEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ and FAARRRRKKKKK I can tell you it is FARKING TERRIFYING facing their bowlers...far faster and consistently accurate than anything of a far "higher standard" here in England.....and their bats aren't bad either!!!!!!
I can only think that something is very wrong in the system that IDs talent and brings them through. It is probably because there is no system, and pursuing "professional" cricket in the WI is absolutely no way to make any money at all.

The women in Trinidad are OUTSTANDING as well; it's a tragedy I'm married really, albeit to a Trinidadian.doctorspin wrote:As a frequent visitor to Trinidad (and soon to be resident) I have joined in with VILLAGE teams in their practice. Is it England in disguise? So many starts, so many not going on.
45, 46, 57, 47, 26.

I wanted WI to get at least a 100 run lead. Will be difficult now, but maybe Ramdin can blast a 50. I expect SL to get at least the same score in the second innings, and Murali to Bamboozle WI in the last innings

West Indies again so very close to being competitive ... but now their bowlers need to do something outstanding if they are to win this game.
As regards the WI batting side, I think I'd get Bravo and Chattergoon to open, and (as suggested by someone above) push Gayle down to 6. My best WI team would look something like this:
Bravo
Chattergoon
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Samuels
Gayle
Ryan Hinds
Ramdin
Collymore (Collins or Powell or Sammy only if Collymore unavailable)
Taylor
Edwards

Hmm, could be a good Test. Doesn't look like they'll be much between the first innings totals and only 2 days gone. But having to face Chuck in the last innings may be tough.

Sammy over Collymore and Jaggernauth over Hinds. Otherwise a good team.
