It would be good if we had some decent weather to go with it!

In a way. I'd be overjoyed were we to have Johan Thunderfart and Andrew Hall in my team. We'd simply be immense in the shorter forms of the game and at the very least competetive in the FC stuff.
Furthermore, Dave Sales is out of nick. Niall O'Brien is in nick. Doesn't bode well.

I would have to admit through gritted teeth and with a loaded revolver pointed at my temple that the presence of Kolpak players is going to make Div 2 more competitive.
We can leave the debate about whether or not they're good for the game in the longer term for another time!

People like Andre Botha, no. People like Thunderfart/Hall et al. yes. They are class performers, last year versus Derbs(admittedly) on a dross pitch for bowling he had them in all sorts of trouble. They'd certainly make us more competetive. Still, the flipside is people like Mark Nelson will get more matches because of it. Sink or swim, I suppose, for the likes of them.
Re: County season 2008
Sky's teletext have named Alex Wakely as their "six to watch" this season, so that should give you hope, Danny.
Although the other five were Ian Ward, David Ward, The Artist Formally Known As Prince, Bernard Matthews and Pele, which would suggest the author's cricketing know-how is somewhat up the guff.

If he scores 111, does David Shepherd shit a brick?

F*ck off... he's been 'touted' by 'the best'. Including me, who is a f*cking legend at picking out Northants' success' at England level. Monty, Swanny, Jason Brown, Mal Loye, David Sales, Graham White... the list is endless.

No, he just wistfully thinks "Why do people mistake me for that Reverend c*nt?"

But who in county cricket has two Test-quality opening bowlers? Sussex win the title every year without any seamers worthy of the name. Frankly, without Mushy I doubt they'd even take ten wickets per match, let alone twenty.
Lancashire are the only side with real strength in depth to their bowling.
Everyone else is much of a muchness. Don't see Hampshire's bowling as being any weaker than anyone else's - and their new-ball pairing should be one of the best around.

Well if reports are anything to go by from opposition players, he is a LONG WAY OFF being anywhere near the bowler he was.
In fact I can quote " Worcester are shoite, and Simon Jones was poo"!
He's actually given it the billy big bollox very early on into comeback number 52!!
