Looks like Steyn had something to say to Yuvraj at the end of that over.

Smith takes a cue from Dhoni and employs Amla.

There should have been a sufficient rest period for the players after the Australia series...
I am really annoyed at the schedule and the fact that this series even took place at all so soon. Even the players who are physically fit look mentally shot (Dravid especially). Not an excuse though -- rest or no rest, I think South Africa would still have exposed us for the wayward team we still are. And the fact that they had so many off field issues with players quotas and selection issues makes their performance in India all the more impressive. At any rate, it's been a harsh but much needed reality check for Indian cricket.

Not too sure what that was all about. Funny how the commentators had just remarked what a good spirit the series had been played in, and then we get the first major sledge incident of the series.

Yuvraj still looks very unsure against the spin, even that of Hashim Amla.

India exactly 100 behind at tea. I'd be really surprised if this test stretches beyond 10 sessions.

Super stroke by Ganguly to bring up 50 for this partnership.

Has now got just 1 more innings to make a mark in test cricket, otherwise it may be too late for him.

What match is cricinfo watching?
62.3 Steyn to Dhoni, 2 runs, what outstanding fielding! Dhoni stays in his crease and cuts a good length ball which seams into him past Kallis at first slip, it's racing towards the boundary but Morkel runs to his left and dives full length to cut off the four
What actually happened was Dhoni edged a leaden-footed drive past Kallis.

What's needed here is a 100+ lead, to try and put the team in a winnng position. Anything less than that and its advantage South Africa. We STILL trail by 70 runs and there's only a long tail to come after Dhoni and Gangers. Nive one Yuraj

Ha, good ol'sh!tinfo. Always making a mountain out of a mole hill. With some of their descriptions of the pitch, you would think they were playing on the moon.

SA struggling here to get breakthroughs on what was touted to be a veritable minefield by this time today.

Ganguly - What a legend.
And that was a late cut by Dhoni, not an edge.

With a long looking tail, these two need to kick on. A hundred run lead could be difficult for the Yarps to overcome.

Yep, 2 superb innings on the trot.Ganguly - What a legend.
I think both him and VVS as well as Dravid will be playing in the test series against SL 3 months later. They still have some gas left in the tank. As for Jaffer and Yuvraj, I'm not so sure unless they do something worthwhile in the second dig here.

Both teams have long tails but SA's main batsmen are more brittle. Aside from Kallis they lack a world class player. Ganguly is standing up when he needed to, unlike the Saffers batters so far.

India may not have to bat a second time with SA's fragile batting lineup due to face India's spinners.
