I usually try for one test and one ODI a year. Hoping to attend an Ashes test next year.

Re: So which forummers have actually been to tests or not?
I've been to Tests, but they're somewhat overhyped. Haven't been for 4 years. When I did go last, there was about 30 overs of boring play and a plethora of drinking games. Cost £50 ticket, £25 for travel and about £80 on food and drink. So that's about a ton 50 for something I could do(for the most part) back home for not much. Could I guarantee the weather and the calibre of cricket, I could be tempted again, but it would probably cost me nearer to £250 this time...
Re: So which forummers have actually been to tests or not?
Up until the last two years I had been to at least one day's live cricket for the previous 30+ years.

Never have I been to a single Test match [or a One day, or a T20, or hell even a domestic match like Ranji, Challenger or Duleep]

Re: So which forummers have actually been to tests or not?
Yup - would soon get bored of watching the game if Test cricket didn't exist.
Try to get to at least one a year, and living within a 10 minute stroll of Trent Bridge obviously helps - looking forward to the Kiwi Test in a couple of weeks.
Have also seen England compete in Test matches at Edgbaston, Headingley, and Lord's in this country, and capitulate miserably at the MCG and SCG in 'Oz.

Batman, if you don't mind me asking, what is the reason? Geographical? Financial? Proffessional?

The answers have been given 5 minutes back in favourite innings thread.
To repost it -
Problem with cricket in places like Mumbai is that when the big international matches come, most of the tickets available to the viewing public [after close to 60% is blocked for politcians, celebrities, club members, corporate quotas and a host of bloody rich swines], the public tickets get wiped off within 2 hours and a good 90% of it ends up within a couple of hours for sale in the black markets with pimps who make a killing charging twice or thrice for it.....
Too much hassles in getting a proper ticket. Then on match days, mismanagement ensues. Geniune ticketholders do not get to enter the venue sometimes. A couple of years back, people holding fake and forged tickets broke in and genuine buyers were left high and dry outside by the gate security [Was it durin the England series or Champions Trophy?] Too much problems over too few sold to genuine public. This is what I hate about excessive cricket mania here. It becomes a free for all.
This does not even consider 1 hour of travel by overchoked public transport and queing up for a half a day to get one's hands on a ticket that isn't sold out.
Much better to stay at home and ensure you don't miss anything.

a few tests, a few odis and one t20
getting tickets for test matches is quite easy if you are smart enough to get them early. odis and t20s is a bitch i agree. but then again i know quite a few club members

I used to go to the Oval a lot when I lived in Surrey. Obviously we live a long way from test grounds now. Not sure if I've mentioned I went to Trent Bridge in 2005.

Been to a few Headingley tests when I didn't have work and offspring commitments and cost wasn't so much of an issue.
Looking to go to the Headingley Ashes test year, does anyone fancy babysitting?

Wow, a thread about cricket...won't last until tac etc turn it into something else.
Been a WACA member for about 5 years so each summer go to the WA ODers, plus the Aussie ODI and Test, plus the odd afternoon at a Shield game.
Perhaps a dozen days of cricket a year.

That's tough. Have you considered travelling to say, Sri Lanka for a game?
