Re: The Wimbledon Thread
Darn!
Nadal has injured his knee in only the 2nd game of the match. Terrible stuff

Andy Murray now on BBC1 - 2 sets to one down, but 4 - 2 up in the fourth.

Re: The Wimbledon Thread
Nadal, fitness permitting will dump him out.
But fair play to the boy, he showed some fight although I think the frenchmen got jelly legs at the thought of winning. Typical!!
Anyway, yet another pointless 1/4 final slot for a Brit at Wimbledon!

Re: The Wimbledon Thread
Fantastic match. Not sure I can remember a better comeback than that.
Can't see him taking a set off Nadal mind - pretty unlucky for Murray to end up in the same quarter really - I think he'd have had a better shot at taking down Federer just at the moment.
Ah well - it's progress for him anyway, and it's good to see him fit enough to be able to slug it out in the 5th.
He's got more bottle than I credited him with too.
Will he ever compete with the very best? Probably not, but he might just win a Slam by accident one day if the top players all blow up at the same time as they have in this year's women's championship.

The Ancic comeback earlier in the day was better than that. Fantastic day of tennis, though.

Got to be either Henman or Rusedski hasn't it?

Very, very debatable.
Having lost the third set 6-3, I'm pretty sure that Verdasco can't have served for the match against Ancic at 2-0 up on sets, never having had his serve broken, and only been subject to a single breakpoint in the match up to that point!

Aye, amuses me the way people in this country deride Henman.
Wait till our tennis is back to the shit it was in the 80's/early 90's and they'll be gagging for someone as good as him. Sure he wasn't quite good enough to win a Slam event but he was still a top 10 player for years.

It's OK, Murray can now inherit his mantle of being not quite good enough to win a slam.

Re: The Wimbledon Thread
True. But that last set was absolutely epic. They were both squared off, daring each other to be the one to blink first. Compelling stuff. Either could have won it pretty much every other game.
Ancic was dead and buried in the fourth set, then won five straight games.
Maybe it's just because I don't like Murray.
