New cricket quiz. Empty New cricket quiz.

Post by Lara Lara Laughs Fri 18 Jul 2008, 02:40

Credit goes to Gordon. His questions but he can't be bothered to run the quiz.

Same procedure as last time. Don't post the answers here. PM them.

Also, this is a general cricket quiz, not an Ashes one so hopefully more people will get involved. Gotta say, he's got some real toughies in there. Good luck!

Here goes:

1.

a) What do Aamir Sohail, Brian Lara, Graeme Smith, Allan Border, Arthur
Morris, Vinod Kambli, Justin Langer and Gary Kirsten all have in common?

b) Which are the two others that belong in this group?

c) Can you name 3 Australians that are near misses to this group?

2. Who topped the 1989 touring Australians bowling averages?

3. What is the worst record in terms of win percentages of any team playing at any regular test match ground?

4.

a) What is the highest test score by a batsmen who never passed 50 in a test match on any other occasion?

b) And what is the highest test score by a batsmen who never passed 100 on any other occaision ?

5. What is the record for consecutive first class innings without scoring a run?

6. Which is the only 4 test series where one side did not score a duck throughout?

7. Who holds the record for the century with the highest individual percentage of his team's total in first class cricket?

8. Who once made a pair before lunch at Lords?

9.

a) When was the last occasion that Australia lost any match at Lords?

b) Can you name the 3 previous occasions?

10. Name the one time that all 20 wickets taken by a side in a test match were taken by bowlers whose surnames began with "C".

Say more than 2 tests...It makes no difference to the answer.

To be more precise than that and hopefully erode further confusion.

SL have never won a test in either Perth or Melbourne so 0% at both. BUT IMO there record in Perth is worse than in Melbourne having played at the former ground twice and the latter once.

Do you see what I am saying?

OK, so you want the most games played at a single ground by a team that has lost every game?

Question 10 isn't worded very well. I blame Gordon! Very Happy

He means name the occasion where all 20 wickets in a Test match were taken by bowlers whose names began with C.

I think for questions like that, you're allowed to research otherwise no-one will ever get them right! Try and get as many questions as you can by working them out but if you really can't get the answers give yourself 5 minutes of google/cricinfo. Not too long though, otherwise everyone will get them all!
