Having crunched some stats:
1 a) I've got a specific common thread that fits Sohail, Lara, Smith, Border, Morris, Kambli, Langer and Kirsten.
1 b) Same problem as mb... I have 5 that fit the bill, not 2
1 c) I've got three who fit this one, plus two of the original players who answer this question.

And for q 8, I've found a bloke who got a pair at Lords in a pre-lunch session, on the third day of a match. A bit of a stretch for 'a pair before lunch' but it's all I can find in FC or Tests.

FWIW, the only other FC pair before lunch I can find anywhere was at Bradford in 1906, and that was Johnny Douglas for Essex against Yorkshire in this story (scroll down to p305). And this is a link to the scorecard.

I reckon I've done pretty well otherwise.

I am having similar issues.

Someone pm me the 5 you have for 1b and I'll tell you if Gordon's got the answer wrong. I don't think he has.

Btw, 1a is pretty straightforward. You might be over-complicating it.

Clue - Ashwell Prince had a good opportunity to join the club in the current Test.

Yeah, you're right. It seems that Gordon has made a mistake on 1b (so awesome to pass on responsibility ). Should have realised there were way more than two more.

The two answers Gordon provided include an Australian and a New Zealander. There is more than one Australian so just name any but there is only one NZder (I think).

It's not like Gordon to make such a big error, especially as it has already been run on TMSB and would have been pointed out. Perhaps he can clear it up next time he's on.

Sorry about the confusion...Should be any 2 of the 5 discovered to get the answer correct.

I thought asking for all 5 was too hard but I should have made that clear in the answers I gave to LLL.

A while longer yet Zat. We've got JGK, Gary, pearlj and Wally so far. JKLever, embee and yourself look like they will enter at some stage. That makes 7. Need a few more than that really.

Don't know why Allan D isn't having a go. Especially given that he was very quick off the mark in the 'hundred years ago' thread when a few people made tiny errors. Wouldn've thought this kind of quiz would suit him.

As for skully, well, he is from Sydney, so maybe he's more of a giver than a receiver. When it somes to triv that is, the SGDT...

Like I said, I reckon I've got 8 questions sorted. One of the two I've got to find will come once I've had a chance to go on a blitz of some scorecards, the other I'll have to hunt around for, as it involves first-class stats, and I don't have a loot of them at hand.

It's a great effort to get 8. Gordon sent me the questions first and gave me 24hrs to have a go myself. Didn't get anywhere near 8 from the first 10.

LLL, I asked for some clarification of Question 8 on p4 of this thread. Any chance you (or GiP) can help out?

FWIW, here's (in no particular order) how I've got to 8.

One was a guess that I found was wrong after a quick cricinfo search.
One of the multi-parters I knew one bit and the rest followed from there.
One I've found one answer that fits, after wasting a couple of hours because I didn't read the question properly. When I came back to it, I had the answer in my previous research.
One of the multi-parters just fell into place once I unlocked the key.
One I got from a GiP clue and a quick look at howstat's database. At least I assume I've got it, I haven't checked beyond the one answer I have due to Gordon's clue.
One I knew, because we'd spoken about it on here back in January when it looked like being broken, had to check it hadn't actually been broken though.
One game from a manual search through cricinfo's match archive.

And two I don't have answers for yet.

Question 8 clue :

It was one of the most unbelievable games of cricket ever.
