Nottinghamshire 121/0
WI Jefferson 63* BM Shafayat 53*
Notts flattering to deceive again. Kidding us on that they're actually going to post a decent first innings total for once.
250ao coming up.

They've probably got enough to win the match already and the title is just about theirs. Meanwhile, the rest of us are playing on proper pitches and paying for it.
240 to win for Hants, so yes, surely too much.
They may have been back in it with Durham 116/8, but 63 for the last two wickets has probably killed 'em off.
Interesting article on 'May's Bounty' the ground in Basingstoke hosting this match.

Seems it has never been much of a track for batsmen and a bit of a FM's paradise.
Another article outlining the plans to return, again alluding to the pitch 'problems'.

Story from Blackpool: -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/7582599.stm
Day two of the Lancashire-Surrey match at Blackpool also fell victim to the weather, with Stanley Park under water.
Overnight rain left the outfield even wetter than on day one and play was abandoned as early as 0900 BST.
Day three may also be at risk, with Lancashire cricket boss Mike Watkinson saying: "It is quite obvious conditions aren't fit for first-class cricket.
"You can't even walk around the outfield without ruining your shoes and the bottom of your trousers."

4 down now.
Another wicket for Davies in his first over against Hants n'all.
And Direbyshire have finally been relieved of their leather chasing duties via a declaration, after Warks tail recovered from 240/6 to 453/7 at one stage!
The home side finally declared on 476/9.

I think he wants to play for England.
When he left SA he said he was going kolpak for 3 years and then wanted to play for SA again.
Things might have changed.
He can't be picked for England. He orginally signed ofr 3 years and gave up the right to play for SA for those 3 years to be a kolpaker but if I remember correctly he's extended his contract this year for us.

Must be that special Essex magic PJ
We also took Chris Wright from Middlescum who averaged 76 with the ball after 20 FC games!!! And to be fair he's not done badly either...

Re Rudolph, from this http://www.yorkshireccc.com/season/players/first-eleven/rudolphjacques/index.html
So well did Jacques fit into the side that at the end of the season (07) he gladly accepted the offer to add two years to his contract, so keeping him on the White Rose books at least until the end of 2011.
He had to wait patiently to play for South Africa, but launched his Test career in sensational style by plundering 222 not out against Bangladesh. He has shunned Test cricket with South Africa to commit himself to Yorkshire.

Phurt.
Micky Arthur: "We'd like you to come back into the Test side, Jacques."
Rudolph the Red Faced Batsman: "But I've got this contract with Yorkshire you see, Micky."
Micky: "Er...pardon?!"
Rudolph: "Only joking, Micky. Heh - when do I join up?"

Bilal Shafayat becomes the first Nottinghamshire batsman to register two tons, and by the look of things he did it with a six off the great white hope of English leg-spin, Beer.

Guarantee he'll give it away before the close though...

59-7 !
Tendo in the act.
FFS, anyone would think our attack is the 1980's WI.

Yeah, he deals in the ridiculously unlucky or the stupid, but it's nice to see one of our more talented batsmen coming to the fore. He's another elegant player and should really cement a place opening the batting given the tripe we have to pick from (though I'll stress again that Jefferson still isn't doing justice to his abilities).

Come off it.
The oppo's a mixture of sheet Kolpakers and wet behind the ears teenagers!
Just about the only one who doesn't fall into those two categories is Nixon, and he's had to bat himself at 3 such is the paucity of their batting resource.

Aye.
Agree about Jefferson too.
Very frustrating to watch his efforts this season - loads of unfulfilled talent bubbling under there.
His erstwhile opening partner Wood meanwhile should just be sacked off. Roobish.

Notts 259/2 at the close, trailing by 80.
Ashwell Prince 20*.
Good-o.
We'll still concede a lead though methinks.

Got to try to hang on to Durham's coat-tails somehow.
I don't want to have booked the last Friday of the season (Day 3 of 4) off work to find there's nothing to play for by then!
