Yes, except Lamb played domestic cricket in SA both before and after his stint in England. He has stated before that he wished he could've played for SA, but obviously that was just not an option for him at the time.
Don't know about Smith though - he never came back to SA.
Stint in England? I saw the f*cker the other day. He's still here mate. In rainy, concrete Northampton.
Added to the fact that the last FC games he played were for Nhants, not WP
Maybe should've said stint for England then. That's what I was refering to.

Why are the Saffies blubbing about KP? He has an English mum. Get over it.

You should really read the thread instead of just posting drivel at the end of it.

He played in FC cricket in SA during his England stint, not sure the fact he played in SA after has any relevance really

I read the post of yours that Lever quoted. Looks like blubbing to me. Blubbing under the guise of convenient "if I were English" dribble.

It's tantamount to us crying our eyes out about that dude playing for T&T in footie, or David Hemp playing for Bermuda. So, I surmise it's solely because Pietersen is good.

That's because you're a pair of idiots.

I 'bombed you out of the water'. It must hurt. Understood. You're 'blockered'. You're not the first. You won't be the last. It's not an ignominious thing.
Re: Pietersen to be named as England captain
Yes, 'bombed' is an apt description of what you just did.
Is it so bad that someone not English has an opinion on English cricket? What's the problem here? Feeling a little insecure about something?

Yeah, you're certainly allowed one. I think you'll find we had a little debate on your (on your own admission) sarcy comments. It happens. It's a shame you got het up because I challenged you. There was no definitive conclusion apart from KP worked his socks of over here to become the cricketer he is and is English whether you like it or not.
You went for a bit of a sob, you're back now.
Re: Pietersen to be named as England captain
I went for a sob? Where did I go? I haven't left my desk for the last 3 hours now. Actually, that's not strictly true. I did go and have a dump. Sorry, I hope you can forgive me. I didn't realise I had to be at your beck and call to mop up after your tantrums.

If you had an English mum, you'd have just as much right to play for England as anyone else, whether you'd tried and failed to play for SA before or not. Get over it.

Yes, thanks for that. Now, go and read the thread properly. Then your comments might actually be in context and make some sense.

I didn't realise that you were such a tightarse. You've been nothing but pithy, lacking your usual joviality. I wholeheartedly apologise that you actually thought that I thought you had literally shed tears and wailed. I didn't. Haven't thrown one tantrum here, sir, but again apologies if you think I have.

No, he qualified in September/October 2004. Good find - that article - Taips, blows whatever figures out of the water. For me, however, is that 4 years isn't 2 months - in regard to the Pattinson affair. As for his claim about turning his back, a safeguard, in case it all didn't work out. My argument is that regardless of his intentions, he's now English, wants to play for England, wants to score runs versus everyone including SA. It didn't just get sprung on him, doing what he was doing for a short while. It was a remodel of his game, a long period qualifying and the fact this is the place he wants to live.
I still see it as slightly convenient. I've read articles quoting him, or heard him say things along the lines of missing the animals, weather, beaches and SA lifestyle. And when questioned as to where he will live post-cricket, he replied England because that's where his wife wants to live and she's close with her family who also reside there. I also once read where he said he grew up wanting to don the green cap of South Africa.

The whole Pietersen saga leaves a disturbing taste in my mouth, even more so than the wife's apple 'n cumin crumble. Deciding to leave SA because he couldn't be arsed to get selected the normal way was one thing, mouthing off about his supposed injustices every time someone with a mic walked past to make sure his cover story got some good air-time was another, going to the desperate extremes of getting tattooed and refering to every group of living organisms on the planet as 'lads' yet another, but then being made England captain on top of it all? It's bad enough that the England captain was chosen simply because he was the only person guaranteed a place in the team, but that the person in question only became British because it was easier than being South African (or any other nationality)??
I find it odd as an outsider, but I could imagine if I was English I'd be well pissed.
Agree Bliksem. KP's Englishness will always be somewhat ersatz.
SA actually would be a pretty formidable team if they had retained him though I don't know whether he and Smith could have survived together.

Why? He'd be a dobber at number 8 like Paul Harris.
