No, he qualified in September/October 2004. Good find - that article - Taips, blows whatever figures out of the water. For me, however, is that 4 years isn't 2 months - in regard to the Pattinson affair. As for his claim about turning his back, a safeguard, in case it all didn't work out. My argument is that regardless of his intentions, he's now English, wants to play for England, wants to score runs versus everyone including SA. It didn't just get sprung on him, doing what he was doing for a short while. It was a remodel of his game, a long period qualifying and the fact this is the place he wants to live.

Charlie, you are not even close believe me. I wrote a long pice about Wessels for Danny about 3 months back, might look for it when I get the time.

I'd easily set the likes of Greig and Wessels, who chopped and changed, apart from the likes of Lamby, and possibly Pietersen(this won't be confirmed for many a year).

Yes, except Lamb played domestic cricket in SA both before and after his stint in England. He has stated before that he wished he could've played for SA, but obviously that was just not an option for him at the time.

Can't see I was as pissed as the Saffers seem to be. Would you be that pissed if he actually wasn't that good? Because I don't really recall a peep from SA during his qualifying stint
