This isn't a bad final, some fantastic rallies and winners.

Serena takes first test and is down 4-5 in the 2nd.

Serena wins US open. A straight sets victory for her.

I just had a look at Serena's stats.

She has also lost twice to her sister at Wimbledon.

And Venus has been runner up six times in total

Twice to Serena at Wimbledon, once to her at the French and Australian and the US

She also lost to Hingis at the US.

Genial banter or not, that's how jocks think. Misen I didn't mind him having a pop at the English, it's the face saving PC bollux that followed that did my head in. If he'd gone on record and said, "Yeah, of course I meant it, I wouldn't be a Scotsman if I thought anything else.' he would have earned my respect, but he didn't.

Even if he doesn't want the England football team to win, I fail to see what relevance this has to me (or anyone else) wanting him to win a tennis match as a British compatriot.

Many, if not most, Derbyshire folk have a pathological loathing of all things Notts, and like nothing more than seeing our football clubs and cricket team on the back of a good hiding, but would this fact stop me as a Notts lad supporting someone from Derbyshire on the world stage in an individual event?

Rebecca Adlington is from Mansfield. If she's got any interest in football, she's probably a Mansfield Town fan, and one of the prerequisites of being a Stag is an utter hatred for my team Notts County. Was this doubt lurking in the back of my mind as I watched her ploughing through the last length of her two Gold medal races at the Olympics?

Course not, both are irrelevant.

If Murray has a small minded dislike of the England football team (and I still don't think the evidence used to hang him on that point is sound), then whilst I'd rather he didn't, I see no reason why it should make me return his small mindedness and hope he loses a tennis match.
