Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
They read it out in chunks in between between balls: -
Dear Kevin,
Can you tell your hopelessly biased colleague to suck it up, and enjoy Division Two next season please?
:-)
Many thanks, and I'm looking forward to seeing us go for the title in our remaining two home games at Trent Bridge over the next 7 days.

We're the best, we're going to win both Championships now. Fact.

I'd settle for one, but we'll probably end up with neither.
Are you planning any more trips to TB over the last 3 weeks of the season, Gus?

Well done Bob ol' son .... Sexies as usual, flattered to please - then fizzled out.
Okay - you guys can go on now and win the lot ... we've got one more season in the depths of Divvie 2.

If there's anything riding on next Sunday's game I shall have to come along. The Hampshire CC game is the only definite though - 3rd day, again, weather permitting, and the fourth too if there's a chance of you-know-what.

Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
Unless I get a call up for our club's Cup Final next week, I'll probably be there for at least part of next Sunday's game, though I shall have to show my face at the Final at some point as well despite my chagrin at having dropped off the 1st XI radar since an injury last month.
Definitely there for the 3rd and 4th days of the Hants game too, so give us a shout via a PM or something if you fancy putting a face to a name.

Aye ... apart from the T20 payday at the Rose Bowl (£40K) plus India and other parts
for, it's claimed, another $1 million plus purse/s ... all we have now are issues
to resolve before season 2009 starts!
** Gus Fraser the new Cricket supremo ( :| ) which hopefully will keep Joyce and Hutton at Lord's.
** The (hopeful) resignation of ET - signs look good ... his disruptive captaincy has been a cloud over the team.
** Membership demands for 2 more spearhead quicks ... ?? who knows ...?? Hoggie would appeal at Lord's!
** Appointing Udal as 2009 captain - he has brought good vibes to the side (a lot of us were gobsmacked at his signing
early season but now see his influence and experience has been an asset).
** Keeping the likes of Naanes, Henders, Goddleman and Kartick.
** Getting rid of Toby Radford as coach.
Promotion to Div 1 next year is the minimum demand - or else serious arse kickings
all round and a probable drop in membership numbers!

Anyone spot Sky's deliberate mistake in showing an out-of-date Div 2 table!?

They hadn't updated it from the last round of matches - they had the Pears and Bears on 13 and 12 games respectively.

Shall we call off the rest of the season now and have done with it - it seems to be ending in one big anticlimax.

Re: English county season 2008 (VI)
It's a funny thing. When I was in Wales last week (it was like "The Hills Have Eyes"), the nights seemed to fluctuate. One night it got dark just before 7 and that seemed a bleak omen. The next night it took until 8. Then varying times greeted the onset of dusk thereafter. A truly loathsome place where the sheer ugliness of the people has been greeted with such contempt by nature that even the laws of physics have deconstructed themselves around it.
