What the heck is wrong with Rudi(and Rauf)?Henry wrote:"I was not sure about the catch so I immediately got up and asked the umpire [gestures as if referring a decision to the third umpire], and Rudi [Koertzen] said that he [Johnson] never nicked it
Further proof that Rudi Koertzen should no longer be an international umpire. Johnson hit the cover off it.
Every one in Europe went to work on time that day because the nick was so loud that it served as an alarm clock.

He clearly couldn't hear it over the crowd noise.

A fair call. Pretty even at the top, I think. India is always tough in India, and Aus is always tough in Aus.Henry wrote:I don't think there is any clear number 1 team at the moment. I'd back India to beat Australia, i'd back South Africa to beat India, and i'd back Australia to beat South Africa.
I think South Africa have the ammunition to become no. 1, but a lot will depend on how those who replace India's aging greats (SRT, Gangles, Dravid, Jumbo, VVS) go.

Perhaps I'm the lone Pom voice on here (Lever certainly wouldn't be! ) - but I'm quietly confident about England's prospects under KP.
India have ageing stars nearing retirement and bad eyesight, so their accession to the top spot (I don't think they'll reach or stay top)
will be a tiny blip on the radar before they too, like Aus, will have to start their rebuild programme.
SAffers IMO could be the real deal for the near future - though their losing at the Oval 2 months back (albeit in a dead rubber) was pretty comprehensive - followed by an absolute rout in the following 4 ODI's .... have they the balls to withstand pressure??- hence my saying "could be".
But don't write England off just yet. I reckon there's more to come now that new life has been breathed into a more determined and settled team following MPV's departure.
India will be a huge test - hence disappointment at just 2 bloody test matches there.

perceptions change when you go from a middle-level 'home' team to a team challenging now to be number one. still need more consistency though
we are winning matches in each country, but have won series only in countries like windies, bangladesh and england. we need to win in south africa, australia and sri lanka to be taken seriously as number one
Perceptions change when collectively you act like a bunch of qunts. It's hardly like India are anywhere near a clear number 1. Anywhere near.

I really loved the part about winning in SA. 1 out of 13 is a great record.

**nods**
Wins in the :
Windies -->
Bang -->
England --> But again, it would've been 1-1 but for a shite decision. I don't think that's any allusion to how they played, the were clearly better. But still, no need to go all squealy about a 1-0 win.
