Re: All Time Lost Generation XI
Yeah, taips did mention him, along with Clive Rice and Bilge Pump. Feel free to cut, paste and edit to your satisfaction, Merls.

Awesome.
I am surprised WI and Pak haven't got any Lost generation Greats up the list yet. WI should be having quite a few.

Always rated that guy ...
He got a couple of tests but was screwed by Kepler Wessels.

Frick this, I would have thought England would also have had a couple of names more.
Does Jack Russel count for WK's slot? Would think Stewart being around robbed him quite a few tests, eh?

Isn't there a list of test players KIA?
Was thinking of Miller but then you can apply it to Bradman, Hammond, Hutton, Compton and Edrich as well.

India lost on a decent pace bowler Abey Kuruvilla when he was young and really fast at his peak and should have partnered Srinath in his early years. Was picked much too late when he on the verge of retirement.

Re: All Time Lost Generation XI
Lets keep players who lost out due to say cricket politics or plain unavailability of slots. Hard to avoid accidents and calamities in real life. So we could prune the list to truely unfortunates.

Edit away Vikas. Taips and I were trying to fill all the gaps.Batman wrote:Lets keep players who lost out due to say cricket politics or plain unavailability of slots. Hard to avoid accidents and calamities in real life. So we could prune the list to truely unfortunates.
It's your thread (and a worthy thread it is) mate, so let's see your thoughts.

The use of the Ignore (or Foe) function shirley should be limited to irrational farksticks like Bucky and the Noid???

I don't favour Larwood because he screwed his own career with agreeing to 'Bodyline'. No sympathies needed here IMO. Don't think he missed out due to bad luck.

Biased/Unprofessional/Political BCCI yes men who were known as 'Selectors' back in the 90s.
This was the time when people who never played proper domestic cricket were made selectors and who favoured players from their own 'interest' zone.

Re: All Time Lost Generation XI
He was really good but was selected way too late when not more than a couple of years were left for him to go. He made it purely because Srinath returned with an injury without bowling a single ball in WI in 1997. So I think yeah.....
