Pietersen wants emergency talks...
Oohhhh - interesting...
http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/england/content/current/story/384869.html
Wonder who he'd rather have as coach? Probably Clive Rice. Or Uncle Ben.
He might just be asking if it's possible for him to become South African again, now that they're good...

Maybe he can undertake both roles.

Maybe he can undertake both Roles and still play for South Africa and also become Head of the ICC and head WAG Watchman for Mr Stanford?

Hmm. KP wants Vaughan in the side for his captaincy skills. Sounds like England have the wrong captain, not the wrong coach.

Not a welcome development. Even if Moores were to fall on his sword tomorrow, it could be six months before a replacement is in post - his first test could the first Ashes match - some baptism

Let's face it, Moores' record in tests is horrendous, and only moderate in ODIs.
He must go.

To be replaced by who though? The market isn't exactly bursting with coaching talent.

By the look of things down under England wouldn't really need a coach to recapture the Ashes if things go as they do....

Aye - John Major could probably coach them to the win.

There's only going to be one winner in this, and it wont be the white haired guy from the South Coast.

Aye, it does make you wonder.
Was a strong "KP for captain" advocate 6 months ago, but not so sure now.
I'm not saying Moores is the Messiah - but KP insisting that Vorn be a part of the England
set-up ahead of Ashes '09 is worrying ....
Is this 'player power' or just KP sh**-scared of facing the Aussies alone as Captain?
Time for fat-cat Clarke to step upto the plate and sort it .... but please, no ballast carrying
knee-jerked crocks returning to test cricket on the back of past glories of long long long ago ...
otherwise let's drag Mike Brearley back - more cricketing nous in his left testicle than Vorn will
ever have in his whole being!

However, I'm surprised, and glad, that Pietersen wants Vaughan around, and for Peter Sussex to sway the selectors - including Giles - away from that does make you wonder why there's this weird power struggle going on. Moores is a nobody in terms of success, whereas Pietersen currently and Vaughan not too distantly, have decent records.
Bet Giles Clarke can't wait to get back and ref this match.

LOL.
England supporters caught between:
1. 'Awesome player' captain, in fact 'easily the best player outright' who's inexplicably supporting a 'contemptible has-been',
2. And an 'incompetent coach' cum traditional whipping boy who's not.
I can hear the wheels turning.

Well I think it's all just fab. You'd think one or the other has to go now but wouldn't be the least bit surpised if they stayed together for the sake of the children and make a big thing of having patched up all their differences. Of course the relationship will still be as poisonous as anything, the veneer will dissappear before long and mummy and daddy will be throwing things at each other and Ian Bell will be crying in the corner.
Assuming both aren't going to be deposed I'd go for Strauss as the new captain with Moores still in place. You can say what you like about him but respect is due to Moores for standing up against Vaughan's return. KP obviously doesn't have the confidence in his own ability and needs some brains on the field- but Vaughan's brains are old & scrambled now. Strauss wouldn't need Vaughan that's for sure.
At least by inference he didn't want Bell in the squad though.

If anyone could have anticipated Strauss' return to form, he'd have been a shoo-in for captain. Unfortunately, he was dithering precariously over the precipice when the opportunity arose and looked very much like the most likely candidate to be firmly removed from cuddle corner. My strategy to untangle this mess would simply be to sack them both. Pietersen clearly thinks he's bigger than the role and Moores has achieved absolutely nothing in well over a year now. See if Shane Warne fancies a job or something. Give Ian Bell Andrew Strauss the captaincy.

Or perhaps Shah. Don't forget last summer when England were struggling with the bat (when weren't they?), in particular Bell and Collingwood (when aren't they?), Pietersen - not yet a captain, not yet a woman - dismissed any suggestion that there should be changes, claiming to have "had a look at all the batsmen at the top of the county averages and none of them are anywhere near as good as Bell and Colly". Or WTTE.
This is the guy who begged Harmison to come back, remember. MBEs stick together. One for all and all (out) for one.
I think it's factually accurate to say he's been brainwashed by Michael Vaughan and is no longer in control of his own thoughts and actions. The signs were there on the Indian tour when he kept banging on about "positives" and subconsciously rubbing his knee.

Concur.
Can't have the captain throwing a tizzy every time he doesn't get his own way - if he was that bothered about having Vaughan selected, he wouldn't have f*cked off on holiday and instead attended the selection meeting and fought his corner. I'm sure they would've allowed him to have his say, even if he's not "officially" a selector (although he does get to voice his opinion when it comes to selecting the final XI on tour).
Can't have Moores under any circumstances. England have declined under him. No players have developed or moved their games forward during the Moores era - most have regressed badly.
Pull the plug, start again. This is going nowhere.
Re: Pietersen wants emergency talks...
KP has chosen the right bloke to pick a fight with, but the wrong issue if the Vaughan story is correct.
Suspect it's just a smokescreen in some ways though, and KP actually wants a coach of substance in place rather than the current vacuous, hopelessly inexperienced and ill-suited incumbent.
It's a shame he didn't stand his ground on the issue when he was first appointed and the pair had their first 'crisis talks', and insist that he wouldn't take the job if Mooronic was still in place.
I'm convinced it's a fight he would have won.

Okay, let's say Clarke buckles under and rules in favour of KP.
Moores gets the boot plus $1 mill compensation, plus all his backroom boys get more than Omega watches ...total cost around $2 mill.
Is that bloody daft or what?
Anyway, pandering to KP's whims, let's assume a new coach is appointed PDQ (Ashes loom in 7 months) ... say someone like Rice, Curry or Vindaloo ... it matters not who.
Will KP's first demand to the new coach be "I want Vorn in this team" or else ... ?
If that's the case (my feelings about Vorn aside), English cricket is f**ked sideways. No coach worth his salt is going to come into a fray pandering to a skipper ... remember theChappell/Gingang farce ... a skipper overladen with power is a sure sign for disaster ... especialy one craving the attention of an ex. by his side to offer him vison and moral strength in the months ahead!
And lest we forget, Ashes 2005 was in the main, Felch's brainchild not Vorn's ... all Vorn did was transplant Felch's Sony Vaio tactics onto the field of play. Apart from that, the old Zimmer coached a fit team and added spices to the mix with smiles from the dressing room balcony.
So what exactly will the ex captain offer his fledgling heir?
KP was wrong to kick this off then bugger off on safari... a hornet's nest 2 weeks ahead of the WIndies tour and 6 months away from the Ashes.
Moores might be a lightweight and a tosser in a lot of people's books - but here, KP is the singular prat that sticks out like a sore loser.
