[Rachel posting]

Breaking news on Cricinfo is that Pietersen's plan may have backfired. No story up yet though.

Both may go. Apparently the players hate Pietersen. Tell me something I didn't know already.

Pietsersen plays best when he's pissed off.

Strauss in as skipper, Moores replaced with a cardboard cut-out of Duncan Fletcher, Pietersen fighting the world and his dog: result.

You would need to add Strauss to the ODI squad, but that wouldn't be such a bad idea - swap him for Bell.

Odds on him buggering off back to South Africa because he doesn't like the "politics of cricket in England"?

What will he do there - he can hardly play for SA can he? He'll either stay put, in which case I feel sorry for the bowling attacks he's likely to play this year, or he might take Modi's shilling.

That's the beauty of it: he's got nowhere else to go. It's not like when he fell out with SA and threw his lot in with England - or when he fell out with Notts and threw his lot (one game a year) in with Hampshire. He's stuck with us.

And I suspect his desire to be remembered as a Test match legend overrides his desire to jack it all in and play IPL for the rest of his career.

Well that would be bleeding marvellous if you ask me.

And I doubt KP would fark of to the hit and giggles, as his stock would be a bit low for a major payout if he doesn't star in the Ashes perhaps. Plus he is also far to ego driven in his quest for becoming a legend to can it now.

Also means we get rid of the useless twot that is Moores. Ideally for a foreign coach who cares not for past glories and understands under-performance!

Could all end up rather nicely......

...........step up the ECB to fark all their good work by appointing Piles as a stop gap! Qunts!

As for MPV, I put nothing past him and his ego, in his quest for blocking up a spot in the Ashes IMO.

Here's a thought:

Moores and KP sacked, KP pulls out of the tour to be replaced by MPV. How ironic would that be?

Very and yet so badly misaligned that the ECB would still be Qunts for choosing the selectors that picked MPV instead of a worthy replacement that can walk, and has score some first class runs recently??

The players only hate Pietersen because they're all shit though. The opinions of bog-standard cricketers who shouldn't even be in the team should be discarded immediately. I mean, Steve Harmison? ****** off, son. And Ian Bell - 'Mr M-M-M-Morris, I d-d-d-don't really like Big Bad Mr P-P-P-Pietersen.'

****** off.

Make a ruthless decision based on your own opinions - leave those qunts out of it. I don't like Pietersen either but it has absolutely no relevance here.

There is also some sympathy towards Moores who, it is understood, was given the authority to select the England captain when Paul Collingwood and Michael Vaughan resigned, and there are those within the set-up who feel that Pietersen has betrayed the coach's trust.

Don't see why !
Who else, other than KP (who played both tests and ODI's) was there to take over.

Oh bugger .... I clean forgot....

Blame the ECB for this mess, when KP was appointed it was pretty well made known he wanted the job on his terms.

After the dust has settled, Ashley farking Giles is going to have his mitts all over English cricket.

Great.

from reports here today, KP would seem to be on life support as captain with half his team, the coaching staff and the gin soaked pukkas who run Pom cricket taking up arms against him...

doubt he will survive another few weeks..and it seems Moores will also be forced out in the quid pro quo...

Australia's worst fears are about to be realised - Gash as coach and the SHERMANATOR (bell) as captain...

we are sooooo doooooommmmed...

Judging from the press reports this morning, it's looking more and more likely that both KP and Moores will get a bullet each, with Strauss probably getting the nod for his belated Captaincy appointment - deservedly so.

If that is eventually the case, then has this whole affair backfired on Pietersen or has it blown up in his face FFS !

However, reports also say that even if he manages to keep the captain's job and Moores goes, he will have no role in the selection of the next England coach. Snubbed or what?

What a farkin' mess .... was it all worth it in the end to find out what everyone knew (Moores' poor record) but didn't want to know (England players reservations about and their lack of full support for their captain).
