Re: Pietersen wants emergency talks...
Was it only in August that everyone was saying what a great captain KP is and how the players were behind him?

Not sure about everyone saying "all the players were behind him" ... though he did captain the side well in the Oval test and thereafter in the 4 odi's.
Impetuousness ... will that be KP's downfall ?
Mouth 10 seconds ahead of brain syndrome.
Airing the dirty washing in public was never going to earn him brownie points with his bosses ...
regardless of how good a player he is.

Man, this is quite unbelievable.
Is it just the captaincy, or is his spot in jeopardy as well??

Actually on reflection it was red saying that he was a far better captain than Smith.

Just the captaincy skulls.
His place in the side will then be entirely upto his choice whether he wants to play for England or not.
Tough call .... on the one side his driving ambition to do well - on the other the snub of resignation having
kicked off the whole sordid business in the first place.
On reflection - may not be a bad thing (providing KP plays on) ... new skipper, new coach (Ford is in pole possie),
clean sweep of the old dross ... and Piles still kept at arm's length

Unsurprising that Mooronic has the support of some of the players, a significant number of whom owe their undeserving place to the cosy selection policy employed by the inept gimp.
Also hardly a shock that the backroom staff support him when the coach will have employed them.
Never been an apologist in any way for KP and have always had an unhealthy scepticism about him, but the ECB have completely screwed this situation up by appointing Mooronic in such haste after Feltch's departure, and then insisting that KP had to work with Mooronic against his wishes when he took over.
Clarke and Morris should go too.

All in the past Bob!
Time to move on ... what has been; who should've been appointed coach etc etc ... all happened 18 months ago.
It's reached a head ... KP flexed his muscles without first checking how people (including his team mates) would react, and sadly, the sh!ts flown right back in his face.
No way any National cricket Board would have bowed to public pressure exerted by what effectively boils down to player power - not just the ECB. I'm no fan of the ECB, no way ... but WTF else was their option?
"OK Kev, we're going to sack Moores and give you absolute power coz you're the best around ??!!"
Still, KP will have accomplshed what he set out to do ... getting Moores fired!

I was all for Moores getting sacked for his lack of results but not because he didn't select MPV for the Windies tour, which IMO was the right decision.
KP resigning was probably the right thing because he came out of the whole affair like someone who wanted his hand held and crys about any decision that he doesn't like.
