Next England Coach then.......
Who do we think?
Here's the pile of dross crocinfo have put forward
http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/england/content/current/story/385431.html
First name on the list, you guessed it - Giles FFS.
I'll put forward a name - Dave Houghton - always liked his ideas on cricket and he comes accross as being pretty savvy on TV - could do worse IMO.

Mick Newell (who has done well at Notts for the past 3 years) is the best of the local "talent" - and he's English!
Honestly think an over-abundance of southern Africans (coach and skipper) in the top jobs kinda takes the piss a wee bit.

Bennett King would be perfect. He is just a glorified PE teacher so all the tactics would be left to KP and there would be no disagreements.
It would also allow us to win our first test series in ages

In which case the proven track record of Moody fits the bill better than others (at least it splits the continents)- but reckon the ECB are 18 months too late.JKLever wrote:Merlin wrote:Mick Newell (who has done well at Notts for the past 3 years) is the best of the local "talent" - and he's English!

He has solid credentials, but isn't he too 'Derbyshire-ised' for the England job? I can't bear the though of Rikki Clarke and Graeme Wagg getting a look in. Jon Clare is a talent, mind....

Chris Adams?
I'm getting increasingly sold on the no coach at all idea.

Pietersen's coach at Notts when he stormed out in a huff. Can't imagine they're on great terms - certainly not great enough to be Pietersen's bitch-boy, which is essentially what KP's angling for.

Well, if they're already got a batting coach in Andy Flower (though he's rumoured to be considering moving on - but the ECB recently appointed Dene Hills as batting overlord for the whole of English cricket, so he could take over) and a bowling coach, Ottis Gibson, and a fielding coach called Richard Halsall or something, AND have Mushie Ahmed on their roster for "spin an' all dat", you might wonder what the point is of having a "general" coach, which is basically what Moores is, flitting around like a buck-toothed butterfly, doing pretty much nothing other than stroking Matt Prior's head.
England's coaching staff must be the most bloated in the world.
Re: Next England Coach then.......
I don't think Tom Moody could work with KP. One of the criticisms of Moody when he was at Worcestershire was that he appered to want to be very closely involved in what happened on the pitch - he wasn't prepared to leave it to the captain. Result? Ben Smith resigned as captain halfway through a game.
Anyone see KP putting up with that?

Yes, that's him. Don't know what's FFS about it - he might be a heck of a coach for all I know.

Hum...well I think the best players generally sort out their own coaching and game, maybe it's all encouraging a depency culture?
And how FFS is Mushie going to help finger spinners?- it's a totally different form of bowling to wristspin. It's like Dennis Lillee teaching Jon Lewis fast bowling. Although I do think we'd have a better team if they all converted to Islam.

I thought Mushie was a busted flush with the ECB coz of his alleged funny-ciggy smokin' or something like that. Didn't "fit in" with the style ... no matter that he was a feckin' decent tweaker.

Only spent a season and a bit there if I recall didn't he? Not there long enough to be known as Dave Derbyshire surely...
You can only polish a turd for so long I guess - he's farking perfect for the job!

I'd like a sexy England coach, one who KP can agree with. Whoever it is will just be a glorified public spokesman anyway. How about Jessica Taylor, she sounds ideal.
