Moody or Whatmore for me, probably in that order.
Damn shame Bob Woolmer's no longer with us mind, though I guess his family miss him more.

Possibly Rod Marsh as an outsider from left field.

Strauss is bloody handy if you're stuck up a gum tree as well. He has an affinity with koala bears.

He'd certainly ensure matters were conducted in a proper manner, and the players were composed on the field...

But would they waltz (or even march) off with the Ashes?

I think he might be able to orchestrate that.

He might fiddle around too much though.

England is becoming the new India in terms of being a team of former captains.

Too starchy (and no credentials) and from the slurrey slums!
My money's on either Ford (Saffer) at Kent or Newell (Pom) at Notts.
Unless they go abroad and pay up big bucks for the likes of Moody (who was on the short list 18 months ago).

Re: Next England Coach then.......
I guess that it would have been a maximum of five former/present/future captains playing in one match: Flintoff, Vaughan, Trescothick, Strauss, Pietersen

giles to coach and the SHERMANATOR to captain...poms need home born 'talents' to lead their team to its true ontological vocation

Re: Next England Coach then.......
why does fredalo need forgiveness?...he and bell were the only triers in the last ashes series...fred's problem is that kp and he do not get on well...the SHERMANATOR tho is respected by the international cricket community and revered by all his team mates

Re: Next England Coach then.......
Seriously, I think he really let the English supporters down with the pedalo incident. If I'd gone all that way to see him and he didn't turn up for a match because of something like that I'd have gone mad. For me, his integrity really went down after that.
Bell just simply isn't good looking enough.
