At least frostbite wouldn't be a problem.

Nor do I.
Ben Lomond, Cape Pillar, Hartz, Anne, Field West, Frenchman's, Walls and the Overland will do nicely - maybe with a few day walks thrown in.
That's a fair programme. Good luck with it.
Short walk: I did Mt Amos recently, for the first time since I was a kid. I'd forgotten how good it was.
Slightly longer walk: beyond wineglass, Mt Graham, down to Brian's corner. If the weather's unfavourable in the centre, this might be a good option.

Yeah, beautiful place. Filled with bad memories, though. Awful 2-engined plane ride from Sydney and a molar pulled by an Indian dentist who called himself friend.
My favourite is the Seychelles: Mahe and then Praslin, La Digue and Bird Island with its zillion Turnbills and the beautiful chalet hotel. Not to forget the 150-year old turtle Esmeralda. Memorable and highly recommendable.

Though I may have to modify that a bit to make room for a good recce of FT's proposed ******-up of the Tarkine, in case we have to man the barricades once again. Nothing like a good protest and a stoush with the authorities to make a woman feel young again.freddled gruntbuggly wrote:Tassie doesn't do Butlins.

Hmmmm, done, done, done, did the circuit but it was too windy for the summit (fourth time lucky?), done, by the time was looking at it the weather had gone a bit dampish and my legs were not in the mood for all that soddin' ploddin' across the sodden Loddens, done (if not as much as I'd like), done (though not enough time for Barn Bluff) and done.freddled gruntbuggly wrote:Ben Lomond, Cape Pillar, Hartz, Anne, Field West, Frenchman's, Walls and the Overland will do nicely - maybe with a few day walks thrown in.
Not a bad result, really.

bloody good result
The summit of Anne is a lottery ... I've had to turn back at exactly the same point half a dozen times (you will know the very spot); the one time I made it to the top I was wearing shorts and sandshoes, and sat basking in uninterrupted sunshine for a couple of hours.

Off to the 'dam again with 20 people in two weeks. Leaving my bank card behind wisely, because they don't seem to have enough narcotics to sate me.

20? yikes. Is it a 'tour'. We did a cricket tour there in 06 and 07. Beach, sex show, narco, booze, one game of cricket. Made us realise the 'cricket' is not an essential part of 'tour' and went to Lanzarote last year, not even playing beach cricket.
As for fave hol destinations, Amsterdam, yup, Fiji and, I'll limit myself to one more: Karacasogut in Turkey. I'd say Oz, but I couldn't stop at just a few fave places.

I found it tepid.
That's what ya get for being on a forum that plays with words. It's like an insidious disease.
(Have never been to Bath at all, but my bro just went on hols there and loved it. )
Anyhoo, am going to the UK and have four days spare.
We're thinking of a visit to either Vienna - its music and architecture etc - or Greece, mainly Athens and the acropolis. Has anyone been to both and can give some feedback?
Also not only going to the 5th day at Lord's - stop chortling - but now going to the first day at Edgbaston, at 175 quid per ticket!! Can you be bankrupt and happy at the same time?
Ashes, here we come. Woohoo!
I should make a sign - 'up the flaming bails' or maybe even something original.

Well I wouldn't go there for the nightlife and you wouldn't want a week there but I'd not call it dull...

Sounds good to me - if its not over by the 4th day at Lords it'll be a usual flattie and you'll not mind skipping the last day.
And you only have to spend 1 day in Birmingham - which is always a good thing.
2 totally different atmosphere too. I love Lords with all its pomposity and history, but Edgbaston can really get a great atmosphere if England are doing well - so fingers crossed hey?

Okeechobee, Florida is quite good if you want some quiet time.
Almost every thing closes at 8 pm and during the day there isnt much to do

Do ya really think I should hope for England to do well on the first day at Birminghasm?
Nah.

You were in Bath? I'm at uni here! Crazy stuff.
Wrt nightlife, it is a little on the dull side, but it's ten minutes on the train from Bristol which is by no means even the slightest bit dull, so that's not hardship.
Also, the jazz cafe big breakfast is the single best thing I've ever eaten and no one I know has yet managed to finish a whole one, even those with mighty impressive appetites, myself included. Not bad for six quid.
Also, very pretty. I like it here a lot.

Yeah, for a couple of days early this month before the Lords test - wasn't bothered by the nightclub scene really though - I'm 36, that's probably long past me & can't be arsed with it. We went there for a relaxing break and I'm into the historical stuff so did the Roman Baths etc. I'll be a bit hypocritical and say Bath could get close to tourist overload at times for such a small city.

Re: Favourite Holiday Destinations?
So, apparently it's mid July summer. Are we all going on a Summer Holiday? Anyone coming down here? The fallers and drowners have been a bit early this year and the floater was pulled out of the waves this morning at Porth - dead, but it's still a beautiful place when it's not raining. I'll make some pasties and scones!

We're flying to Belfast today for St Paddies day. Possibly driving down to Dublin too.
Any tips on things to do or see? Been to Dublin once before but that was for football.
Someone's told me there are no casinos in Belfast and the police station is terrifying to look at?
