Tories in with a landslide majority in June.
The only party with the balls to offer a referendum on the EU issue ...
President-elect Blair f**ked off ... can't be President of the EU if GB vote to GTF out of the EU.

Eh? Ratified by whom ?
Labour will not (period) and the Tories can not (until they are in office) offer a referendum! So what's your point?

Simple question :
Regardless of when it takes place, would you want a referendum to decide the fate of the UK within a Federal European Union with Blair as its President ... or not?

You've got have a truly dismal, cynical and generally hopeless view of the human race to willingly vote tory. It's just the equivalent of being ruled over by Merlin. His voice is rich and valuable in it's own way but unless we were being invaded by genocidal extra-terrestrials not one I'd like in power.

Better than the strangley militaristic Allan D though.

So if you had to vote for a forummer who would it be? I would say Dello but I think he's developing a god complex much like Tony Blaire.

Get real, Cameron will only offer a referendum if the treaty has not been ratified by the EU, all it needs is for the Czechs to say Yes and its a done deal if the Tories are not in power by then.

Your tory blue boys are deeply divided over this.

Very Happy
Thank you for the vote of confidence!

But would you not agree that the bold-typed first sentence of your post has applied to Labour these past 12 wasted years?
Ask any pensioner!
Or perhaps your canvassing took you through muggers, thieves, burglars, dole merchants and con artists who all seemed to have thrived this past decade with absolute immunity!

Putting a [X] against a Labour candidate on a ballot paper 12 years ago ensured we all got one!

Well Labour just ended up apeing the Tories because it's the only way to get in a with an electorate made up of 60% b*stard. Now they're just a a sorry mish-mash torn between the big money & war friendly Blaire tendency and good old fashioned quasi-socialist values. At least there's a heart in the Labour part somewhere beneath all the guff- the Tories are just cold blooded lizards who burn working class children on bonfires.

I know. Isn't that horrendous. Anybody would think that free trade f*cks over the workers to such an extent it's almost slave Labour.

Still, as long as we get our bananas for 60p instead of 75...

Shurely shome mishtake, as Bill Deedes used to say (viz.Private Eye). A tariff means the consumer pays more not less, n'est-ce-pas? :?:

Nope, a lot of them get put in prison. Trouble is, we have so few jail cells that the judges cannot give out long sentences - there is simply nowhere to put them for very long.

I'd build a load more jails, except that they cost zillions to run and we'll have to put taxes up again.

Well, they could start by getting rid of the luxuries and actually treating them like the criminals they are, that would cut costs a fair bit...

Failing that, send some of them off to Australia, there's still plenty of room there!

I don't know; I think I'll take the genocidal extra-terrestrials over the tories. The ETs probably just need a hug.

Looks like we're going to head-to-head debates on TV between the three main party leaders during the election campaign. Personally, I'll believe it when I see it.

Wouldn't be so sure Vilks, Cameron wouldn't be able to hide behind a baying front bench!

Not sure I like the idea - we'll end up with a celebrity PM! I'd love the heads of different departments and their shadow ministers to discuss their approach to the next parliament on TV rather than it boil down to who is the most popular person leading each party.

Oh I don't know...all politicians end up looking like w*nkers on telly. It's a lose lose situation for all involved.

Was telling that Jack Straw & co couldn't even look good compared to Nick Griffin on that Question Time.

Cameron will be good in a TV debate, and he knows it. That's why for the first time ever the party leader in the lead in the polls is happy to do it - because he doesn't think he'll have a prayer of losing.

It'll definitely happen too. No-one will want to take the flak for being the one to drop out and can the whole thing.

I reckon we're heading for a hung parliament. People have grown disillusioned of the Labour party but few can bring themselves to vote for the Tories. The polls always exaggerate the popularity of the opposition party so expect their share to drop drastically come next May.

I was speaking to a senior civil servant recently and he was telling me how the mood in Whitehall at the moment is very similar to the last two years of John Major's term. Very little is getting done because everyone knows that the Government is on its last legs - but I don't see Cameron achieving anything close to Blair's landslide that followed.
