Re: Massive outcry - I mean outbreak of hypocrisy

Indian man murders Indian woman in Sydney - nothing. Indian student in dark street late at night in Melbourne is mugged and later dies - hysterical outrage.
You don't see the hypocrisy?
Yeah, I see it. Not condemning it. It's messed up.

Well, nobody is saying the Indian student's death is not tragic. Of course it is.
Zog was merely pointing out the subjective nature of the outrage emanating from South Asia.

Re: Massive outcry - I mean outbreak of hypocrisy
I don't get this. Why should Indians qualify our outrage by reacting to a single instance of an 'Indian on Indian' attack by comparing it to an attack on an Indian which is especially part of a long series of attacks on Indians in Australia ?
where is the similarity ?
there is a whole thread 'What is going on ?' dedicated to Indians being attacked in Australia.

Hence why I said, "defending the undefendable". It's the usual order of the day, on this place.

yes Smerky, you have the right instinct here.
Australian forumites are trying to defend the indefensible by comparing it to a one-off or two-off incident. As I have said before it is role of the Australian police and govt that is shameful not the folks at large.

So do Indians, but apparently Bucky finds that acceptable.

I think there is an awareness in general in this regard. But what is disconcerting is the lack of acknowledgement of the same by the Australian govt and the Melbourne Police who refuse to patrol the railway/metro stations or assign personnel at such locations during late hours despite repeated warning from Indian students as well as the Indian govt.
So what exactly is the problem ? Don't you have personnel or financial allocation to the police districts to patrol certain crucial locations at night time ? Or is the quiet a general admission that wide swathes have gone rogue and are out-of-control ?
should we help you out there ? You just need to ask.

I am sure the Indian police are more than occupied trying to keep the terrorists in check to prevent another Mumbai, etc.
The police have more to deal with than just acting on reports coming from India,
The so called "refusal" to patrol areas comes down to resopurces or lack there of, and the constraints that mean these resources can't be stretched any further Iie both money and police numbers).
Just like police can't be everywhere in India

We are talking of at the most one or two suburbs and their related metro terminals in western melb here. If the Indian govt can't compel the aussies to police two suburbs better, then it is reasonable to expect that they shouldn't aspire for any further business from us.

Are you guys really that stupid that you're comparing a case of domestic violence to a potential racist attack? Well, congratulations you've really set the bar low this time....
In other news -
FFS, can we have someone who's not so prone to melodrama as EAM? Idiot.
In other news -
The ABC has reported that Indian's External affairs minister S.M. Krishna has condemned the attack, saying stringent action must be taken.
“This heinous crime on humanity, this is an uncivilised brutal attack on innocent Indians,” he said.
“It certainly will have some bearing on the bilateral ties between our two countries.”
FFS, can we have someone who's not so prone to melodrama as EAM? Idiot.

I'm comparing the lack of coverage in India of a murder of an Indian in Australia by an Indian who fled interstate to the blanket coverage of a murder of an Indian in Australia by persons unknown for motive unknown.doremi wrote:Are you guys really that stupid that you're comparing a case of domestic violence to a potential racist attack? A Current Affair story on the murdered Indian
I think I've linked to somewhere close to the story ...or it could be about purple carrots being the newest weight loss miracle food
...or how to crochet an orgasm
Any way ...the Indians will be happy that the Victorians have wheeled out one of their big name cricketers to speak out on this issue ...Dean Jones says some crap on the issue ...at least it wasn't Hodge (or his mum)
