Re: Australia v West Indies, 3rd ODI, Sydney, Feb 12
I ended up going despite the forecasts for evening showers.
I got told off outside the ground by an orange-shirted SCG official after I bought two tickets off a random guy near the box office. Two of his mates had decided to bail. He had two seats in the Brewongle worth $100 each and was willing to give me both for $120 all up.
About 30 seconds after I paid him this fat wannabe came up and collared me. He told me I was involved in scalping and that he had a right to confiscate the tickets. I mean, the guy sold them to me for almost half price! He must have been the most incompetent tout ever! Anyway, I kept my cool and managed to hang on to the tickets.
As for the game, it looked like being an interesting clash. Too bad the weather decided to be a pest.

Well it was 33 degrees celcius during the day. Unfortunately it was also bloody humid. I don't mind a shower to cool things down after a hot day... but not when the cricket is on!

For most of Australia, when cricket bats come out the sun makes its customary disappearance in bleak city.

Fark Hass, are you an Eastern Suburbs Yuppie? Out past the Pacific Hwy, it were farquin 38 degrees C mid arvo. You could smell the evening thunderstorms coming.Hass wrote:DJ_Smerk wrote:It's still summertime in Aus, right?

Really can't argue with you, Smerks. I farquin hate the sun. If I go to the cricket I am generally a slicked up greaseball with sunscreen, a large hat and sunnies.
Couldn't have God just invented a Sun that chucked light and an Earth that had central heating, FFS?

At the end of the day, it's still probably the Windies rather than Aus who were saved by the rain. I just cant see how this Windies batting lineup can score anything over 200.

Embarrassing for who?Henry wrote:Embarrasingly poor crowd. Can't be more than 10,000 in when the SCG's capacity is about 42,000.
Shit opposition, depleted Aussie side and rain...yeah, don't understand why the SCG wasn't packed out.

Trev speaking sense for a change . . . . the Windies would have been lucky to make 150 . . .

I must say I am dreading the Brisbane ODI.
Kemar Roach has been added to our world record breaking injury list leaving Ravi Rampaul and a bunch of medium pacers to bowl against Australia on a fast GABBA deck. All we need is Gayle and Ramdin to get injured and every single one of our senior players would be out of action .
I just cannot see this ending well at all.
