Woke up to see this . . . farking amazing stuff . . . a very sad day for cricket, and why, oh why, would Amir do this at his age?

Actually back to the point made by Gaz about banning spot-betting e.g. betting on when no-balls are bowled, I guess it's virtually impossible given that Bannies and their subi cohorts will bet on two flies r00ting on a wall. Pretty hard to police a million John the Bookies and their books.

Should defrauding bookies be an actual crime?

Some more info:
Majeed claimed the cheating was not confined to match-fixing, and that ball tampering had also become rife within the Pakistan team.
"I used to go out on the pitch to give the players their drinks," he said.
"Whenever we couldn't get a wicket I'd have a lump of Vaseline on my hand. Shake their hand. They'd put it on one side of the ball and the ball would suddenly start in-swinging."

That's true, but I did notice in the report a bit that said:
Scotland Yard said a 35-year-old man was being held on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud bookmakers
So this wouldn't be for the benefit of the illegal bookies?
Plus, surely if these matches are all fixed even the illegal bookies will struggle. They will lose a fortune if they keep accepting bets for $20,000 on a certain delivery being a no-ball and always having to pay out.

I'd like to be talking about how our number 9 might make more in one innings than the entire Pakistan team have made in both of their innings put to together.
But really, who gives a sh!t.

England on course for their second largest ever victory only beaten by the innings and 579 win over Oz in Hutton's Match at The Oval in 1938. Hollow victory though in the circumstances. How can the one-dayers be viable or have any integrity?

Small crumb of comfort for the Paksters in that they have avoided heaviest defeat by visitors to Lord's which was innings & 285 by India in June 1974.

And that is the disgrace of this whole affair. Detracting unfairly from a remarkable English effort.Allan D wrote:England on course for their second largest ever victory only beaten by the innings and 579 win over Oz in Hutton's Match at The Oval in 1938. Anyone else watching the presentation thinking "Shut the f**k up David Gower!"?

Gower has an amazing ability to turn 2 words into 26.

I think it was some dispute with the BBC - they had the only live sound feed that went out on TMS which left Gower having to commentate - the two immutables of Test cricket - Pakistan on the fiddle and the BBC and Sky ignoring each other's existence.

Can't be definitive but I would suspect Ponsford (181) & Bradman (304) who made 83.05% of Australia's total of 584 at Headingley in July 1934. This compares to Trott & Broad's 79.15% of England's total today. If I'm wrong no doubt Skully and/or Wide Wally will correct me.
While the Ponsford-Bradman scores certainly seem to be the overall Test record the Trott-Broad partnership certainly appears to be the England record. Again, can't be definitive but closest in totals not involving a declaration seems to be Dexter (174) and Barrington (256) which represented 70.38% of England's total of 611 against Oz at Old Trafford in July 1964. Boycott and Parks also made 50s.
here are a few possibilities

A quick look suggests there are at least 5 instances of two players contributing more than the 83.05% that DGB and Ponsford did at Leeds in 1934:The One wrote:Allan D wrote:Allan D wrote:The One wrote:whats the record for highest percentage of team score by 2 batsmen (where all 10 wickets fall)?
