Look, this is getting confusing, what is the official party line? Are we being nice or not?Brass Monkey wrote:Well, obviously I'm not saying you're totally like Lagaan. You're held in higher regard than that by a comfortable distance.
I'm starting to question your leadership.

Fark, just what is people's dramas?? It's a frikkin Forum to have a discuss, a bleat, a bitch, a poke, a stab and a laugh. And yet some farkers feel the need to get all Desmond Tutu and preachy on my arse.

All the aspects I've highlighted are incredibly Lagaan-esque - it's not something I'd write lightly. But I'm not damning him or anything.

Well, it wasn't affirmation or anything. I think people were saying the highlighted parts were coming without provoke, rather than them used to be happening whilst the other aspects were going on.

If labelling the skull as Lagaan-esque helps the joint sail along, go for your lives, guys. I'll wear it, lift it, and pull it up between my butt cheeks if it helps this sh!t heap to keep performing.
But FFS, please don't lecture me about "welcoming behaviour". I just about feel like having a good spew over such bulltwang. Just WTF has this place come too?

I wouldn't want to be in any pack that would have me as a member.
'this time I think you're at least partly in the wrong' = a lecture? ... skully, when even your mates tell you you might've lost it, maybe it's time for a glass of water.

I used to enjoy Lagaans posts. He came over to the the ABC forum for a while & stirrred up a bit debate. While he was around there was no danger of the forum stagnating.

Because he's the hero Flaming Bails deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight."

I was saying that the pokes and stabs used to occur as a result of discussion, bleating, laughs and bitching. Nowadays pokes and stabs seem to occur as soon as certain people log on rather than as a result of discussion and bleating.

or they actually become the principal SUBJECT of discussion and bleating, rather than the outcome ...

Exactly. There's a distinct difference. To try and mete this out at the most basic of levels: take the 'hearsay' sh!t, it didn't start out as a 'shitfest'. It grew and grew into a shitfest. That's what made it 'special'. It wasn't bitter from the off. It had a certain charm because it wasn't all out attack.
Re: I see our longest-standing member (August 2007-) is...
the best bit about that was that many involved actually started out trying to help Lara, but he fought them all off bravely, like a Scotsman drowning in a vat of single malt

Re: I see our longest-standing member (August 2007-) is...
I think the generalisations have got a little out of control in recent days. I think I have had a poke twice at Laura in the past month (happy to be proved wrong). Yet the white knight cavalry Badger Pack rode in and defended the previously indefensible Laura with much gusto. Suddenly a normal and mundane happening (one poster having a dig at another - and I wasn't Robinson Crusoe) became bigger than Ben Hur. I have no beef at all with that, but please give the lecturing about the lack of a "warm and welcoming forum" a rest.Brass Monkey wrote:skully wrote:

That is such a load of bullsh!t and codswallop. We haven't been warm and welcoming forum - ever. We are a mean bunch of cricket-loving psychopaths, who love a good cricket chat, love a grouse stoush, love some off-topic tangential bulltwang, and most of all, love a good belly laugh.
This holier than thou tripe of the past week is just too billious for words.
