Re: The Golf Thread (II)
McDowell and Westwood (and Kaymer when he played) have been passengers. Supposed to be key players - they've been shite.
Re: The Golf Thread (II)
Westwood was hardly a surprise, he's been shite for long parts this year.
The depth of talent in this Seppo side is quite astonishing. Always thought they were favourites, but this is an arse fark.

Regarding what others have said about highly dislikeable Americans, do remember that the most passionate golf hangers-on (in the American case, it would seem comprising the wannabees, failures and ignorant losers themselves) are not necessarily prime or fair representatives of a nation.
But as for those gracing the Ryder course with their support:
The grunting baboon chorus of U-S-A would be bad enough. But cheering each European miss with the same simian enthusiasm, and in some cases failing to go quiet for the Yurpeens on their shots, would indeed richly merit a visit from a whole fleet of the vehicles illustrated below ... with the same disburdening results as befell Fathers Ted and Dougal:::

Re: The Golf Thread (II)
As for the play, many of the Americans are indeed "on fire", while a number of their opposition (even the ones who are not passengers) have seemed oddly subdued.
Even the N Ireland pairing has played only pretty well, rather than world-beatingly as befits their current status.
I wonder whether some of the other European pairings have been so well matched as the Americans, who have spurred one another on like a whole settlement of houses on fire.

Re: The Golf Thread (II)
That the USA are playing so well isn't too much of a surprise. They seemed to have a proper team and when a player like Hunter Mahan misses out, a WGC matchplay winner this year, then it's bound to be a crazy strong one.
About the crap fans, golf fans around the world, and most with any semblance of sense, would know not to cheer at a shot that goes in the water. Just the bogans aren't bound by decency, and the Ryder cup draws in a fair few of them.

Re: The Golf Thread (II)
Poulter just about keeps it respectable.
Europe will lose today, but they could avoid a drubbing thanks to the superb efforts of IP - finished five birdies in a row - and a pretty lucky steal from Garcia and Donald.
Think the US will top 16 points, though.

Rose's feel off the bunkers has been that of a hardcore pornstar. Crashing them all.

Well, after an initial surge, Yurp set to fall a bit short.
Thank the Lord Donald has finally downed that gesticulating jibber-jabber twat, though.

Back to the real Donald, his mid game was especially brilliant when needed.

10-10 - Poulter beats Simpson 2up.
They've made a game of it, but Europe in no great shape in the remaining games, but you can't ask more than to win the first four matches.
