If we're playing swapsies, swap Prior for Gilchrist please.

Yep, I'm sure we can find some UK ancestery for him somewhere! failing that, a comeback for Chris Read - if he's got enough about him to be skipper of his county.............

This may be a stoopid question...
But why "Rikki"?

Because I was looking for an image to use for the "sticky" and put Rikki Clarke's gorgeous features there for a laugh until I found something better.
But once I discovered I could change the name of stickies to Rikkis the issue was settled.
I could change it if it's too offensive. Not today, though.

Sort of glad it's going to a decider. It's been refreshing to have a series like this, considering I'm usually bored to f'k with this monotonous, formulaic, friendly bullsheet..
Re: Eng v India, 7th ODI, Lord's, 8th September
Glad this game's at Lord's, where the bowlers usually have more of a chance than in most ODIs. Hopefully Colly and Dimi's line and length dibbly dobblys will cause batsmen some trouble.

I'd reluctantly swap Dimmi with Sideshow considering the expected unsettled weather.biff harde wrote:Glad this game's at Lord's, where the bowlers usually have more of a chance than in most ODIs. Hopefully Colly and Dimi's line and length dibbly dobblys will cause batsmen some trouble.
He swings it big and has always done well at Lord's given the conditions

I think Sidebottom for Cook might be on the cards. We were short on bowling yesterday.

I don't have stats to back it up but this must be one of the very few times a 7 game one day series has gone the distance.

Re: Eng v India, 7th ODI, Lord's, 8th September
Following 7-ODI series have been played so far,I don't have stats to back it up but this must be one of the very few times a 7 game one day series has gone the distance.
1) 1987-1988 IND v WIN 08/12/1987 7 WIN 6-1
2) 1992-1993 SAF v IND 07/12/1992 7 SAF 5-2
3) 1995-1996 SAF v ENG 09/01/1996 7 SAF 6-1
4) 1996-1997 SAF v AUS 29/03/1997 7 AUS 4-3 (Aus won the series in 6th ODI itself)
5) 1998-1999 SAF v WIN 22/01/1999 7 SAF 6-1
6) 1998-1999 WIN v AUS 11/04/1999 7 Drawn 3-3 (5th ODI was tied)
7) 2000-2001 WIN v SAF 28/04/2001 7 SAF 5-2
8)2001-2002 SAF v AUS 22/03/2002 7 AUS 5-1
9) 2002-2003 IND v WIN 06/11/2002 7 WIN 4-3 (Series was decided in the 7th ODI)
10)2002-2003 NZL v IND 26/12/2002 7 NZL 5-2
11)2002-2003 WIN v AUS 17/05/2003 7 AUS 4-3 (Aus won the series in 4th ODI itself)
12)2003-2004 WIN v ENG 18/04/2004 7 Drawn 2-2 (3 ODIs had no result)
13)2004-2005 SAF v ENG 30/01/2005 7 SAF 4-1
14)2005-2006 IND v SRL 25/10/2005 7 IND 6-1
15)2005-2006 IND v ENG 28/03/2006 7 IND 5-1
16)2005-2006 WIN v ZIM 29/04/2006 7 WIN 5-0
17)2007-2008 ENG v IND 21/08/2007 7 3-3 (Result to be known tomorrow)
As can be seen, only 1 previous 7-ODI series (WI Vs Ind in '02) went all the way to 7th ODI.
Also, SA, WI and Ind have played 7 7-ODI series so far, maximum for all countries.

An interesting statistic going into this deciding game- So far in his ODI career, Dimitri Mascarenhas has hit 10 sixes, but only 1 four.
