Forget them, I confirmed it to you last week! Sorry my brother didn't have a spare ticket for you.
What did you think of today's match then, England win by one wicket in the penultimate over?

"Bellend in another run-out" shock.
Although it was KP's fault.

Kp did it on purpose. Didn't like Bell stealing his ODI limelight all the time.

Well, not a bad start there, nearly gets the Lord first ball with a short pitched one.
Given that Jimmy was all kinds of garbage in the last match, there was always a good chance the cycle would click back around to "handy".

And on that basis, England will already be on the plane home.

KP almost got his name in the record books with a hit the ball twice dismissal there!

Yes, it was only my copy of the 2007 Playfair Cricket Annual (ed.Bill Frindall) which says Southgate that led me to question you. NP about the ticket. Current match depends on Pietersen not getting out. Plenty of time to score the runs.

Strauss and Joyce opened together in the last ODI of the 2006 season against Pakistan at Edgbaston (Strauss was captain). They at least managed to put on 23 as England won by 3 wickets.

- KP and Colly have batted well.
- Chawla looks like a great prospect
- Tonk
- Good old bullet points.

Hurrah looks like this especially pointless JAMODI tournament is in the bag. Peter Moore's first trophy with England.
Just wished we hadn't had to mess around Flintoff's health.

Phew! Am I glad that series is over. We deserved the series. It means little. But well done England all the same.
Re: Eng v India, 7th ODI, Lord's, 8th September
congrats to england, probably the better all round side over the series - things finally looking good
india gave em a good series but pace bowling and fielding let us down. batsman cant score 300 every time. old trafford was the killer blow

Aye.
Huzzah....
At least we look a half reasonable ODI side again (with the nucleus of a decent squad here) but lets not forget this was 6th v 7th or something like that.
However, for the first time we have bowlers who can put it there or there abouts unlike the Saj/Plunkett/Bresnan era.
Fred especially makes the difference.
And we bat deep too...

Funny that a bad KP tournament involves an average of 41.
Re: Eng v India, 7th ODI, Lord's, 8th September
Old ground, but a close up of the Dravid dismissal just shown on Sky shows quite clearly the ball brushing the bat, no doubt at all.

Re: Eng v India, 7th ODI, Lord's, 8th September
Well, that series surprised me in more ways than one - it was close, competitive cricket virtually all the way through, entertaining to watch and certainly took the JAM out of ODI.
I think this puts England up there as a solid mid-ranking side, well short of the top three of Aus, SA and SL still but certainly able to compete with anyone else. Opening partnership, keeper and spin still needs some thought, as well as a backup seamer in Freddie's absence. Otherwise progressing nicely, the middle order looks strong and the new ball bowling was the best I've seen from England in one-day cricket for some years.

Still a team that's worryingly reliant on Flintoff to deliver vital wickets. Our attack looked completely useless in the matches he didn't play. If he's permanently crocked, as seems likely, the England ODI team is unlikely to maintain its recent improvement. Maybe Flintoff will have to accept that painkilling injections are a necessity if he wants to continue a career in cricket. Atherton had to suffer with them throughout his career, and it was just one of those things - a toss-up between playing and not.
I personally think Flintoff will prove to be knackered either way.

That's an overly harsh judgment on Anderson and Broad. Jimmy's bad days are becoming fewer and fewer and Broad is still very much a novice. All in all, an encouraging performance.

On flat pitches, Jimmy and Big Stu are fodder. Freddie comes in hard and scares batsman out. Monty is still a passenger, bowling 60mph darts. On merit, he should be below Ian Blackwell in the pecking order in respect to ODI slow bowling. Naturally, Graeme Swann is a far more reasonable replacement...

Well played, England.
Not too bad, India. Excused as it is hard to muster enough motivation for JAMODI series such as this. :P
(I doubt these two teams would still be placed at around 6th/7th after this series. Of course, without playing anyone else, officially yes, but they seem decent outfits who can easily give even SA/SL a run for their money).
