Just when you thought the Sydney Daily Telegraph couldn't be any more quntish, their font page today is a disgrace.

Did they end up showing the press conference on Sky News?G.Wood wrote:To add to all things strange - what was the point of keeping the Aussie press out of the press conference? Why would they pick him for the tour, though, if that was the case?
Very strange.
If so, anything interesting?

And this "apparently" originated where exactly?skully wrote:Mostly agree with this. While MB pointed out that Pup's pointing is not considered kosher by umpires, it was Channel Nein's fault that a common sledge that usually goes unheard was picked up (and they have apologised for their ineptness overnight). Clearly tempers were high (apparently Jimmeh DID contribute heavily, as I would've expected from the Poms' champion sledger). Jimmeh didn't help the situation by complaining to the umpires - it was immediately after this that Pup made his overheard remark.Red wrote:Must admit it is somewhat surprising that Clarke whose spontaneous comments were only punished because the mike was turned on cops a penalty whereas Warner who obviously pre-planned his avoids any admonishment despite demeaning an opposition player in a gratuitous fashion.
I agree that Warner probably deserved a rap on the knuckles more than Pup, but don't agree that Warner's remarks were pre-planned. He's a dumb bogan who runs off at the mouth with no involvement from his brain (not that it could contribute much anyway).
Lastly, I think England's response to Warner's remarks was professional and appropriate. A short sharp "it was disrespectful", and it was. And in hindsight, have been shown to be extra foolish in light of Trott's condition.
Another one of Warne's "insider tracks"?!
Nothing heard or reported on this side of the world - athough it is clear from TV footage that there are exchanges taking place between Clarke and Jimmy - which Clarke gets rather pointedly irate in ... turning and pointing and all that sh*t.
I blame Boof for all the sh*t taking place.

Re: Trott quits the tour!
It was clear on the coverage that Jimmy and George were having quite a few words but George was giggling so it can't have been too serious
or more likely he just didn't take Jimmy's threat all that seriously

Re: Trott quits the tour!
George Bailey seems a decent bloke. Has a good sense of humour, and a good upbringing. The likes of Clarke and Warner are Western Sydney bogan trash, who when faced with any sort of confrontation, resort to physical violence and the use of the word "c*nt" every second word.
The Aussies seem to punch people when they lose (Warner), and threaten to break people's arms when they win (Clarke). The last time Aus won some big matches (against India in 2011-12) they went on a similar sledging spree, with James Pattinson and (Surprise surprise) David Warner at the forefront on that occasion.
If only they had any sort of class about how they behave and carry themselves. If they simply let their performances on the field do the talking, they might be half likeable.

I agree it was classless by Warner but we also complain about nearly all players giving meaningless, mind-boggling dull, PR-coached sound bites to every question they're ever asked too.
Just saying.
Just saying.

A fair point, LLL. The fact that dead-as-a-nit Flaming Bails has pumped out upwards of a dozen pages of comments (in various threads) in just a day is testament to the "interesting" factor in the bogan's bone-headed remarks.Lara Lara Laughs wrote:I agree it was classless by Warner but we also complain about nearly all players giving meaningless, mind-boggling dull, PR-coached sound bites to every question they're ever asked too.

Re: Trott quits the tour!
James Anderson is a gobshite. If he gets some back then that's all fair. He could try taking some wickets in Adelaide as a response.
Re: Trott quits the tour!
Actually, this was the flavour of what AB was saying last night on Aus's Inside Cricket's review of T1. He said he thought Warner's remarks could've waited until Aus showed consistently good performance in the series (which is by no means guaranteed). All he's done (much like Jimmeh - if he was involved in heavy sledging) is left himself open to making himself look like a complete nob (not hard, I know) if Aus fall in a heap from here (a bit of a woof, if you will). Tubby Taylor said as much during the sledging shit-fight during the game.
